If Chavez can stay healthy, he could really give the Yanks some punch down the stretch. Worth the risk to get his bat and glove in the line up. Can’t wait for the season to start! Go Yanks!

Chances are that Chavez will break down before All-Star break as he did last year or worse in the second half. He just hasn’t been able to stay healthy for an entire season for years.

The big difference though is that he won’t be signed to a huge contract to be a starter like BUSTnett was. The Yanks most likely feel like it’s a move they don’t feel they have anything to lose by making. Outside shot that he plays for Yanks this year so he most likely won’t hurt this team. Heck, Feliciano hasn’t done anything with the Yanks either.

Aardsma last pitched in the Major Leagues in 2010, when he saved 31 games for the Mariners while posting an 0-6 record and 3.44 ERA. He saved 38 games with a 2.52 ERA in 2009. In six Major League seasons, Aardsma has compiled a 13-15 record and 4.20 ERA.

Sounds great! These numbers are Burnettesque.

Cashman has done a fine job of putting together this roster. Chavez was last piece in puzzle. I feel better about this Yankee team than many in past. Now—–can they avoid the big injuries?

If there is a game we have either in the bag from a huge lead or are basically destined to lose from a huge deficit, early in the season, I say let him do it. Mo is in really good shape for his age and since he regularly patrols CF in batting practice, so it’s not like he’s totally clueless about what he’s doing. And I honestly don’t see Mo risking his body diving for a ball, or running back into the wall to make a play, or anything else like that – he knows where his real value as a player is and I don’t think he’d put that in jeopardy on a foolish play.
