just got home and checked the score. Not happy about Kuroda's injury. Hopefully won't keep him from next start, but it sounds like he was bad in the 1st inning before the injury so this wasn't going to be a good outing for Kuroda. We haven't lost many series this season. Hate to lose one to the O's who are chasing us. Anyway, bring on the next challenge.

Romine doesn't do much at the plate. Need to get Cervelli back. Not sure how long he's out. Stewart gives you more at the plate than Romine, but not much. We have a weak catcher tandem right now. Strong defensively but don't expect any offense.Well Hughes didn't implode which is good.Gave up 2 homes runs to Dickerson which shouldn't happen. Didn't last though past the 6th and so then you have to use your pen too much until the end of the game. Not a bad outing. Not a great one. Can only hope the pen holds the score as it is and the Yankees can pick up a couple of runs in late innings or overtime which they did last night.

how do you give up 2 home runs to Chris Dickerson? Hughes and giving up the home run ball. That's what kills him every game. Dickerson didn't hit that many home runs the whole time he was with the Yankees, did he? Something wrong with the pitches Hughes is throwing him obviously. Probably fast ball in the middle of the plate. I'm checking in on gameday tonight. No channel carrying the Yankees game up here.

How long is it going to take for Granderson to start hitting. Usual strike outs just outs period. If he doesn't start getting it together maybe we don't play him and go with Wells, Gardner and Suzuki. Personally if the Yankees could trade him at the end of the season they should. Not sure if after the injury he's going to be able to hit the home runs he did last year. Seeknay, so far Hughes is pitching pretty well. Often the problem is Girardi leaves him in too long and then he has the big inning.

Soooooo which Hughes shows up tonight. The good one or the bad one???? If I was a betting man I'd avoid betting on any Hughes pitched game. More importantly CC's outings only get worse and that has to be a growing concern.

CC ain't the pitcher he used to be. Velocity down and too many pitches up. Other teams keep putting up lefties against our hitters because they know we don't have many right handed batters and our lefties can't hit lefties. It's a weakness that wasn't addressed in the off season. And you can't put Fransisco in there because he can't hit the ball. What kind of game are we going to get from Hughes tomorrow? Any bets? The good Hughes or the bad Hughes? Management keeps trotting him out there after getting bombed for 7 runs in the 1st inning in the last game. We don't want to lose this series. First time this season the Yankees lose after scoring first?

CC is not perfect tonight by any means. Too many pitches and too many hits. Garcia limited Yankees to 3 hits. You can't win many games with 3 hits and 2 runs. Offense has got to heat up here. Bring in Wells for Granderson in the 8th given Wells record against Garcia, ie if Freddy still pitching. This is not a game I'm feeling very confident about. Every inning almost there are men on base. Maybe if we get Freddy out then we can try to get to the pen and score a few runs.

Robert,

Not saying they're dead yet, just way too early in the season to be saying that about any team, it's entirely possible for them to turn things around. However, the Jays offense is basically a one trick pony, it's all about the long ball and nothing else, that's the way they are built. Unfortunately, they have had the same type of offense for years, and it's led them nowhere.

I think it's going to take a lot for them to turn themselves around, i.e. pitching staff which is near the bottom of the majors in ERA and it's gonna take more than Johnson coming back, their pitching is atrocious right now. The offense really needs to step up and stop relying solely on the HR. HR's alone don't make an offense dangerous, right now they rank in the middle or bottom half in the majors in every offensive category other than HR's, if they are going to turn themselves around it's gonna take a lot and it's gonna take time so they better start doing it soon. There's a reason why they lead the AL on being shut out. These guys are very beatable right now and teams should take advantage of their weaknesses.

Frankly, I just don't see them doing it.

Yank: Be careful of heaping too much poop onto the Jays. You might wake them up and down the stretch it will come back to haunt you. They should be performing a lot better than they are given their off season acquisitions. Just for the record .I'm not a Jays fan. Through and through Yankee. Just happen to live in the same city as the Jays play in so know a fair amount about them and their organization. I think you're right though. We need to take the Orioles and Rays seriously and the Red Sox are performing better than they were expected. Well, that's true for the Yankees too. Hopefully what we are seeing in the Yankees is the real deal.
