Greetings from Atlanta

Atlanta.jpgHello from another rare road city for the Yankees, as they'll continue the National League East travelogue for the next three nights by spending some time at Atlanta's Turner Field.

This is a new city and ballpark for me, so I'll try to post some pictures and observations as we go through the week here.

Without having had a chance to get down to the clubhouse yet, it's safe to take out the crystal ball and imagine the Yankees' belief is that this set will go a whole lot better than the last two against Senior Circuit competition -- they have lost eight of their last 12 coming into tonight's game, dropping two of three to the Nationals at home and doing the same against the Marlins in Miami.

Really, if you think about it, Luis Castillo's glove is all that came between them losing two of three to the Mets at home as well. The Bombers need to right the ship as soon as possible if they want to snap out of this June swoon, and they'll try tonight as Chien-Ming Wang gets the ball opposite the Braves' Tommy Hanson.

This afternoon will also shed some light on the weekend, as CC Sabathia plans to play catch on the field. If that goes well, he'll throw his usual bullpen on Wednesday and would line up to pitch against the Mets at Citi Field on Friday.

Additionally, Cody Ransom (remember him?) is eligible to come off the disabled list on Wednesday, so the end of Angel Berroa's time in a Yankees uniform as an Alex Rodriguez understudy could be near. Xavier Nady is also set to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tomorrow.
