Manny to the Yankees?
Now what do you make of this? A newspaper in the Dominican Republic, Impacto Deportivo, reports that the Yankees and Manny Ramirez are getting close to agreeing on a three-year, $75 million contract.
There have been reports that Ramirez thinks he can get three years from the Yankees, but this is a pretty large leap if true. It's difficult to believe Ramirez will sign with fellow Scott Boras client Mark Teixeira still out there.
There are definitely rumblings within the Yankee hierarchy about Manny and the debate of whether it's a good idea to pursue him or not. The Yankees definitely have interest on some level. It just seems unlikely that a deal would go from zero to done so quickly.

That report has to be bogus. Just Manny/Boras stirring the pot.

at this point i don't care.. the Yankees NEED another power-bat big time (200-some rbi's lost with the departure of Abreu/Giambi) and a protection hole for A-Rod
whether it's Teixeira or Manny, the Yankees need to get crack-a-lackin'

what will the Yankees do...
it seems like they have made some real mistakes...
the Yankees could have easily traded for Matt Holliday...
he could have brought alot more pop to the offense and that would have allowed the Yanks to use Matsui in a trade with some young players(like what they gave up for Swisher) and get a better firstbaseman...
then the addition of Manny instead Tex makes sense...
and if the Yankees had waited a little bit they could have picked up Ty Wigginton for firstbase as a free agent...
his numbers are very comparable to Swishers...
and that move may prove to be cheaper...

I'm really starting to think that Boras is up to his old tricks. What a crazy thing this off-season is.

New York Yankees ...
Please, say "NO" to bringing Manny to the Bronx !!! ... The Yankees really need to sign, Mark Teixeira, and re-sign Bobby Abreu, "NOT MANNY" !!! ... Let "Manny be Manny" on some other team ... We do not need all the "headaches" that he will bring with him to the great New York Yankees organization !!! ... Jimmy [27NYY]

Thinking about it having Manny & A-Rod togther in the same lineup chasing 600 HRs would be pretty cool.
