Keepin' busy on the Bombers beat

Joba Chamberlain replied to Jorge Posada's assessment of his ability to stay injury-free yesterday at the Stadium and said, essentially, he's tired of the whole debate.

Then Wilson Betemit came through with the big hit off the bench and Mariano Rivera passed Lee Smith for second place on the all-time saves list as the Yankees won the seventh-to-last game at the Stadium.

Hey, if there'd been a few more games like these along the way, the postseason outlook wouldn't be quite so dire. In any event, they did it without Robinson Cano, whose inclusion in the lineup will be a day-to-day decision, according to Joe Girardi.

My bet is that Cano makes it back into the lineup tonight, though -- Girardi had a message to send and Cano seemed to have received it loud and clear, wearing his jacket pullover on the bench in the early innings last night.

The Yankees are creating so much news lately that it's pushing stories off the main yankees.com page too fast. Here's a couple you might have also missed from Monday: I answered questions in a Mailbag - the first one is about Cano - and Samantha Newman checked in with Jim Abbott. Down in Oklahoma City, Kevin T. Czerwinski reports that Ian Kennedy just wants a little love.

And didn't Posada diss Pedro Martinez during that "Centerstage" taping for the brawl involving Karim Garcia and Zimmer in Boston? Loved that.

Bryan,

How come you have not reported anything on Humberto Sanchez being called up. I mean is not like we have been expecting Sanchez to be called up in sometime since the trade. Do you think he just got called up to show case him for a trade (hope not)?

This from the Phil Hughes blog: (Bryan that link on the right below needs to be updated http://www.yardbarker.com/users/philhughes)

"I'm also heading to the Arizona Fall League when the season is over to get some more innings in. I'm really excited to work on some things and get my innings count up for this year"

Is this still the case? That was posted 6 days ago presumably before the call-up. I hope there are still plans to do this, Phil hasn't pitched much over 100 innings this season which even if he's not in the rotation next year isn't enough

Nope, Sanchez is up with the Yankees because he earned the promotion and they want to take a look at him. I guess a trade is possible but that's really not why you promote players in September. It's more to find out what you have.

Francisco Cervelli is also up, by surprise. Here's the Daily News story on Sanchez.

Phil is headed for the AFL and will pitch for the Peoria Javelinas.

sorry that link shouldn't have that end bracket on

Ian Kennedy just wants a little love? Start pitching your @$$ off and gets some wins. Do that, and you'll get more than a little love.

It looks like Matt's boy Bet "I'll be a hero" amit was the man last game. No chance he's gone next season now especially if Cashman stays.

Wow!!! I almost forgot completely forgot about Bet "You a buck I won't be back next season" amit. Thanks for bringing his name up again NoDigidee. Hope he is enjoying his stay in Siberia. Seriously, though I have my doubts that he will be back next season, his lack of ABs lately seem to indicate that they might be souring on him a bit.

Wilson Bet "I have more game winning hits this season then Cano" amit really needs to play Winter ball. Maybe he can go hang w/ Robbie "I can't hit a ball off a tea" Cano & Kevin "I can't hit ****" Long in the off season.

this blog censores every 4 letter word or what? $_h_i_t
