Waiting out the rain
Nothing says the Fourth of July like the Yankees, the Red Sox, and a rain delay!
We're set to start back up at around 5:45 p.m. ET. Seems I may have been a bit off today - I actually did believe Darrell Rasner was going to throw a good one on the board. That didn't work out quite so well, with Mike Lowell's three-run homer so far standing as the difference.
The Yankees do have six outs remaining but, once again, the offense has been underwhelming. So much for that meeting -- if this score holds, they'll be stuck looking at the bases-loaded, two-out situation they missed in the fourth inning and the bases-loaded, one-out jam Hideki Okajima and Manny Delcarmen pitched out of in the seventh.
Hope you're enjoying your Fourth regardless of what transpires here in the Bronx -- enjoy some burgers and hot dogs off the grill, and maybe down a cold one or two before the fireworks show tonight.

Girardi needs to yell at them louder. despite the weird play of the ball bouncing out of Damon's glove, the Yankees left 8 men on base. EIGHT. they get very close but don't have that extra edge to put them over the top. think of the 1-run losses to Texas this week. i think that edge is Matsui's bat
when does Matsui come off the DL? his bat is sorely missed now

Olney: Sabathia has pitched his last time for the Indians. Brewers have agreed on prospects.

It sure would've made the holiday a lot better if they could've won this one.

Now CC is going to the brewers???
Is Cashman at Martha's vineyard or something? Can Someone tell him to get his head out of his colon and get something done?? what is he trying to prove?
I think its ego-HIS ego-and he is trying to prove that he can "build a championship team" instead of "buying one". He is clueless! From what I can gather of the teams in the '90's that won so much, and other teams that won in the past 20 years, you build a small but talented core of players from within and strategically sign free agents who fit that chemistry. ARRRGH! I'm so mad right now! This team is so haphazardly put together....
I think the abreu trade was great, but you need to follow up with that by getting a bigtime arm and a right handed hitter to balance out this lineup.
Does the front office see that this team CANNOT hit lefties?
I'm just POed right now. Please, someone be the voice of reason here!!!!

C.C. isn't going to the Brewers I don't know where that guy gets his info. Happy fourth of July B-och and fellow Yankee fans.

No deal for Sabathia is done. According to Ken Rosenthal the Dodgers are now going after him. They don't have a Matt LaPorta type hitter, but would still be willing to trade three highly regarded prospects, most likely this will take the Yanks out of the trade picture since they don't have any minor league hitters who could match Laporta in terms of a prospect. This will slow everything down though in regards to Sabathia.

How many of those bases loaded jams with no run production have we fans seen since 2003? Seems to me I remember the idea of situational hitting being preached when I was in little league many years ago. The fundamentals of the game that obviously is not part of this team's identity. Oh well what do we fans know that these so-called stars don't know, right?

What pisses me off more than anything is the fact that pedroia and elisbury are having a very successful year (and one of them will make the all star game), while cano and melky are hitting less than .250. They're the ones that need to be hitting and leading this team.
----------
You know who wasn't in that closed-door meeting on Thursday? BOBBY ABREU. I don't know where the hell he was, probably in the freakin bathroom. He obviously missed the message. And when one player screws up, the whole team falls w/ him. That one-out bases full was a killer.

Olney said on Sportscenter there is a Brewers prospect they want and the Brewers have agreed on a package and that CC has pitched his last game. It is not too late to give them Kennedy, Abreu and a third negotiated piece. Olney is saying that unless there is a better offer, Cleveland has a deal they like.

I'd rather have Damon than Abreu. Damon hussles and he can play all outfield position and 1st in a pinch. Abreu could be gone if Damon's injury is not so bad. Juan Pierre could be expendable for the Dodgers and not require much to obtain.

I highly doubt that the Indians want Damon and Abreu. I think Cashman should move his focus on Harden or someone like that. It is time to get a decent pitcher who can go deep into games and get swings and misses instead of these scrap heap pitchers. Cashman has neglected the rotation for too long and now it is really starting to show.

Damon? We are not trading him, what are you nuts? They were asking for Kennadia and Abreu + a prospect.

bpark where did you see that: abreu, kennedy and a prospect?

The only thing the Yanks should get Harden as is as setup man for Rivera. No way should we get him as a starter, he is one of the most injury-prone pitchers in the majors far more than Ben Sheets. Not a question if he will get hurt again, but when. At least as a reliever his career can be extended.

No way would the Indians pass on a top, young prospect in LaPorta for an older players who are nearing the end of their careers, and whose skills are declining, along with an unproven pitcher who has struggled. that's why you have been hearing a lot more about a possible deal involving LaPorta, and now the dodgers who are also offering young talent. The Indians would be crazy to go after those three.

The only question Susuki is do Milwaulkie have money for extension, if not, GM Susuki will get another shot this winter.

bpuke,
Brewers have 15th highest payroll in majors this season, so they would be willing to take that chance on him.

As Fox said, their stingy Susuki.
