The spotlight is on
Hey, we're back on the Yankees.com main page!
If you want to get All-Star votes in, today is the day. It seems pretty safe to assume that Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter are going to be in the Bronx for the Midsummer Classic, but you can still get votes in to help out secondary candidates. Jason Giambi, for one, would be a heck of a choice to hit in the Home Run Derby, especially since A-Rod won't take part.
Tough loss for the Bombers last night, and I know you probably didn't have the same reaction, but I couldn't help but chuckle with the last out. A Johnny Damon broken bat? Yeah, I wouldn't have seen that coming. What's that now, 60? They'll try to salvage the final game tonight with Sidney Ponson set to face his old club, the Rangers.
Think there won't be some extra juices flowing for Sir Sidney, considering the way things went down in Texas and his return to Yankee Stadium? Luis Mendoza gets the call for the Rangers. Down at Triple-A, Shelley Duncan had his arm in a sling. Hank Steinbrenner wants the Yankees to "wake up," and judging by the blog comments, all of you do too.
Anyone else notice Joba Chamberlain is a new pitchman for Dunkin' Donuts? I didn't make the connection until I went for one of those frosty cool Coolattas. Of course, Joba struck me out when I entered my code. Shocker. Next time I'm digging in against that Papelbon guy.

I feel like this homestand is critical for the Yankees. With the Rays and Red Sox playing each other, this is a good time to make up some ground.
So far, they're blowing it and looking beyond pathetic as they do it.
I understand getting some playing time for rookies is important. But given the importance of this series, why in the world did Girardi bat Brett Gardner lead off on Monday where he went 0 for 3 and then, bat him AGAIN last night where he went 0 for 3.
And it may interest you guys to know that monday night CJ Wilson commented about how when he was in a cab on the way to the Stadium for monday nights game some genius on local New York radio predicited how the Yankees would sweep as the Rangers have nothing.
Gave the Rangers even more motivation to beat the Yankees and now, they're are the ones with the brooms. And don't think it can't happen.
Sydney Ponson didn't make any friends in the Ranger's clubhouse and they would love to bash him....Cattalanoto is probably going to be in the Ranger's line-up and can do just that.
I think both the Red Sox and the Rays have to be licking their chops at the prospect of coming into Yankee stadium and beating an aging team managed by someone who seems to have a talent for outsmarting himself.
A Yankee-less October?.....It's not outside the realm of possibilities.

Look for Panson to be way over-amped, and look for Texas to punch us in the face in our own house tonight. Hopefully, we really show our offensive prowess and score 3 runs tonight!

I'm not the one that said "Tard", idiot. Obviously you need to go back and read the posts again. I don't even know what the hell that means. The **** that said that is the 23 yr old virgin, parrothead/redsux, from the west coast. I guess those are the kinds of insults they teach over there.
So, get your facts straight, "ACE". And what kind of insult is "ASSHAT", anyway. Where the hell did you learn an insult like that.

I'm sorry. I mistook you for someone who was smart, Amire. Asshat refers to someone who wears their *** for a hat. So, it's a shorter way to tell you that you have your head up your butt, *** Dumpster.

Sorry about accusing you of using the word "Tard", Amire. I guess it WAS RedSuxBlow. Unfortunately for you, when he uses it, it's witty and amusing. I guess the only one not allowed to use single-word insults on this blog is YOU, idiot. I'm the one who freely uses the words "idiot" and "loser" on this blog. Stop copying me.

How is Ortiz worth of an All Star spot? Fans should really be limited to one vote a piece, or better yet, we should not involve fans in all star balloting. It would make this fair for a change.
Though I did vote repeatedly for all the Yankees on the ballot. I know I should be more objective, but I can't help it.

Funny how going on a 3 game losing streak sees people insulting each other on this blog. I glossed over all those posts, so I'm a little vague about the whole thing but I think it involves Ponson. I don't care for online wars but I don't see how there is an argument here. Ponson doesn't the best track record, so expectations should be low. But after his last performance, he deserves another start and we really should hold judgement until after that start at least, for good or bad.

I am very interested to see how Ponson does with this start today. And I wonder how many trees Damon has used up for his bats this season. Al Gore won't be happy.

I voted for Jeter, even though he doesn't deserve it, A-Rod who does, Posada who doesn't, and I only voted once. I feel like a tool voting repeatedly. Maybe they should do national elections like that? LOL. 250 million people, 5 billion votes........

I voted for Jeter because he's my favorite player, and I'd vote for him if he was out for the season. I gave Mattingly the same treatment. In fact, I write in Mattingly on occasion.

Matt will love this: Steve Phillips says as Mets GM, Arod, Abreu and Giambi wouldn't be allowed in the derby because it screws up your swing but Black Shelley Duncan, we'll give Yankees Stadium a pin stripper.

I should start writing in Paul O'Neil too.

In other words, Steve Phillips says if you want a Yankees player in the derby, Duncan would be the one.

i think the team is really missing Matsui's bat.. of course most of the Yankees are snoozing and leaving up to 8 guys on base, but i think Matsui as a catalyst is missed big time.. too bad he won't be available for the Boston series

HA, Thanks for showing me a pic of your head up your ***. I figured you to look like one of those 40 yr olds who gets a beating from either his wife or his manwhore. Since, you came on this blog, all you have been doing is continue whining about what the yankees should and should not do. Well, I hate to tell you this, but no one gives a **** about your feminine emotions. So instead, how about you get your *** off the computer, and get a job, you loser.
-----------
And, seriously, stop calling everyone a scooter, before I come to Idaho and stick that little head of yours up your manwhore's ***.
---------
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, but Betermit got one of the only 2 rbi's. So again, stop putting the blame on him, b/c he is only a benchplayer, you A-S-S. Girardi should have given a dayoff to melky or cano b/c they are the 2 that are bringing this team down.

Ponson gives us a stellar performance and we have idiots calling him garbage. And what's funny is that those idiots are from the west coast or from idaho.

Ponson is what he is. He did pitch well against the Mets so he deserves another start. But he's capable of being shelled just like everyone else is.
But in the last three games, pitching hasn't been the problem, it's been hitting or lack thereof.
And I don't see how you solve that by putting a rookie in the leadoff spot on the first game of a a home stand that's this important.
And the whole 'I didn't call you a tard' thing is why I stay off the Yankee message boards now. It's like this only times ten.

It looks like Shelley Duncan seperated a shoulder making a diving catch in RF last night. No home run derby for him!

amoron,
I see you're spouting of the usual unintelligent, flatulence you usually let loose through your mouth. As usual it smells about as bad as your morning breath you retarded shitforbrain piece of garbage you. That picture that chaz found was probably your best side, wasn't it? If anyone is interested theirs a good scene in Hancock, which just came out today with Will Smith, it shows amoron with his head up someone else's ***, literally, and wouldn't you know it, it's a prison scene. Of course it stars amoron, and prison-daddy in that scene!!

Ponson is garbage, his career stats prove it!!! Just becaue he put together 1 decent game doesn't mean much, it doesn't change what he has done in the past or change what he is . He's going to have to do a lot more than than win one game before people stop considering him garbage. Stop being fools and accepting mediocrity!!He's a high-risk, low-reward addition to this club. He was nothing more than a desperation move. He is capable of being shelled like everyone else, the problem is he is more likely to be shelled more than anyone else based on his career stats. Those stats are what defines him, not one game.

Tonight better be a win. I have my boyfriend’s lucky Yankee boxer shorts, my tickets from my first Yankee game I ever went to, and my favorite, a Joe Torre signed hat, all of which might help bring luck. I’m hoping for zero dumb moves by Girardi. No “original” lineups. I feel like he’s trying to prove himself with his lineups and stuff. To prove he’s being different than Torre by having different lineups each night. Not working dude. No manager of the year would ever not bunt Melki. He’s not acting like himself.

meant to say amoron's real-life prison-daddy in my last post!!!

Plus he would get destroyed in a home run contest. Andre Agassi would fair better than him.

Team
It would seem apparent to anyone regardles of who is starting in the next 10 games. If the team does not win a MINIMUM of 6 out of next 7 given who the opposition is the season will be done. If they win 6 out of seven then status will be even money. let us hope that preparations are in place for this critical stage. After the performance of Geise and " Baby Face " Robertson if the team can get it going offensively it can be done.
Aussie Bryan'
How about some positive support for the team

Aussie Bryan,
I would go even further and say wait until the end of the first weekend in August. This team will be playing most of their games until then, at least give this team more credit than what you give them in your last post. I'm still not sold on Giese or Robertson after a small handful of games though.

Wow parrot, I did not understand one word you said. How did Hancock come into this argument. I feel like you're one of those juveniles who dropped out of highschool and is trying to find a job at mcdonalds b/c your grammar sucks. You typed "you retarded shitforbrain piece of garbage you". Wow, that makes lots of sense; and you call me unintelligent.
Anyways, Matt I disagree w/ you on Ponson. Cashman signed Ponson for one reason only and that's because wang was injured. His job was to keep us in the game. But instead he gave us a stellar performance against the Mets, shutting them down, and giving us a win, which is hard to come by for this team. So as of now, Ponson is not garbage. Cashman made a good decision in signing him b/c he was the only pitcher available. Not to forget that he was worth absolutely nothing. So you could say whatever you want about him, but he is going to remain on this team until he falters or until wang or Hughes come back.

I'm not surprised an intellectually challenged moron like yourself amoron didn't understand a word I said, it requires intelligence, something you are woefully short on. Watch the movie and it will become much more clearer to you, or maybe not!!

Hey, Amire,
Are you telling ME to get a job? THAT is hilarious, SCOOOOOTER. Not only do I have a job, but I have a job where I can sit on my butt all day and post on this blog.........and get paid while I do it. That job has me owning my own house (do you?), driving a nice rig, and slipping diamonds on the fingers of my ROCKET wife.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of wives, you strike me as one of those people who have no idea what sex with a real girl feels like. Don't worry though, I'm sure the flowers that you sent your mommy will work awesome. If THAT doesn't work, I'm positive that the roofie you dropped in your sister's kool-aid will have her dropping her teddy bear and drifting off into sleep in no time.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you actually threaten me with violence over the internet, you little worm? Nice pair of internet balls, LOL. I'll tell you what, if you'd like to come out west and get your butt handed to you by this country boy; then by all means, son, whenever you feel like you have enough hair on your nuts. I live in Middleton, Idaho. Break yo' self, foo!
