Moose on the loose

As Ralph Kiner once said: "It's Father's Day today, so to all you fathers out there, Happy Birthday."

Are the days of .500 baseball but a memory? The Yankees sure hope so. They moved a season-high three games over the break-even mark with the 8-4 victory last night at Houston, as Mike Mussina completed a remarkable accomplishment by extending his American League record of seasons with 10 or more victories to 17 years.

Actually, as Mussina pointed out, Mussina's next victory will equal his season low over that span, which started ticking in 1992 with the Baltimore Orioles.

"I actually made it to 11, like Spinal Tap," Mussina said.

The Yankees made a small adjustment to their pitching rotation for the upcoming homestand, shifting Andy Pettitte to Tuesday and Darrell Rasner to Wednesday vs. San Diego. The move is to keep Pettitte on regular rest. Robinson Cano came through with a much-needed RBI single as a pinch-hitter, snapping an 0-for-17 skid.

I've brought up the name David Robertson a few times as a potential bullpen option and have been met with quizzical glances from people outside the Yankees organization. Those inside the system know exactly what Robertson's dealing. The New York Post has more.

Moose can be an all-star reliever. Giambi needs to be on the ballot for DH because Papi ain't playing and Yuckallis is up by too much.

I spent a few minutes of this afternoon looking in the Astros gift shop for a Houston Colt .45s jersey or t-shirt. Say it ain't so -- nothing to be found. I know they're available online, but it's not the same if it doesn't come home as a souvenir from Houston.

Bryan, most of the time you have to go to the mall for better selections with the home teams.

Bryan, any chance of Giambi or any other Yankees player in the derby? We need a rep for the stadiums final all-star game.

I see Carbera in right and Damon in center. Wouldn't it have been easier just to put Damon in right or are we experimenting with Cabrera?

Once again first two runners on in the 2nd and Cano whiffs. Don't think I have ever seen a worse season from a guy with all the tools he has. I think opposing pitchers have figured out how to deal with him, now he needs to make adjustments.

He just hit a 2 run single.

Huge 2 out single by Cano in the 3rd, way to go.

I bet Cody Ransom is also ahead of black shelley trashcan.

Well then happy birthday Bryan, always wanted one of those jerseys.

Mattress Susuki hasn't spent enough time dapping Moose, instead he is dissing a 2 time WS champion, whos retired.

There went the Yankees season one could fear. Wang injured. Why the heck is a pitcher going to run the bases!

Looked very seriuos

Wang is injured? I thought he's still on the mound for the next inning?

Because he needed to pitch atleast 1 if not 2 more innings.

This was over at 5-0 the offense is coming alive here in Houston.

Wang is not out of the game? So I assume he's ok? Gee Jorge and Alex had moon shots.

Let us cross our fingers regarding Wang, my early diagnosis is he has slightly rolled his ankle rounding third which may not be too bad.

A ussie Bryan

Yankees PR says the injury is to Wang's right foot. It did not look good at all. He is being examined right now.

Oh, crap he's hurt he didn't seem to run hard off the bag. I don't know what happend? It does seem to be the ankle. Wang has a pair of long legs there. Well with 11-0 at least he gets this win and the bullpen should manage with a off day tomorrow.

Bobby was trying to stop him I think he was like this isn't good.

With his last start and these five innings Wang was back to ace form I hope he's alright.

Even at 5 nothing, you don't wear out this bullpen, 4 innings is too much to ask from them.

thats all hindsight, no one knew he would get hurt.

Any more news on Master Wang?

Happy Fathers day. Wang looked great but got hurt. I hope he's alright.

Bryan, any news on the status of Wang? Great win for the team and to get the team on a bit of a roll.

"After the game, the team called the injury a sprain."

"I feel sore," Wang said through a team spokesman. "The doctors say I have to go to get an MRI tomorrow. Of course, I'm disappointed. And on Tuesday, when I know more, I will talk [publicly]."

By the looks of it, Wang seems to have sprained his ankle. Let's hope it's not a high ankle sprain, which is worse and takes more time to rehabilitate and could signal a longer bounce back period.

Either way, the most he's gone is 15 to 25 days ( rehab and all ). Let's look at the bright side here for a second. Wang's injury means that somebody is going to get promoted! I'm excited to see who they call up and witness the start of a career. I'll be going through this one day-- and no offense Wang-- but an injury to a star player would mean a window of opportunity for us hungry minor leaguers.

With the loss of Wang you need to think, how far along is IPK, Hughes, how long is he going to be out... even if it's 3 weeks that's very significant. On a complete side note, KENNY SINGLETON is the best commentator ever to step foot in the YES Network Box...

us ? Who are you including in that BD? I don't see where you find the time for such incompetence.

I hope Wang can bounce back. I'm glad to see that we picked a game against one of the greatest pitchers in the NL to go nuts. Hopefully, we can put a big string together and narrow the gap. We are only 6 games out.

bpuke/sentinel/keyswahili,nycstreets,

We all know you're gay, just admit it no shame. We also know of your mancrush on Clemens, but it just ain't gonna happen, he's a pedaphile (swings both ways?) who won't return your affections. Too bad!!!!!

bpuke/keyswahili/sentinel/nycstreets,

Give it up already!!!! Everyone knows you're keyswahili, you're not going to convince anyone by accusing me of being keyswahili, nor are you going to shift suspicion off yourself by accusing yourself as being gay by desguising yourself as keyswahili. Nice job of outing yourself you WILD AND CRAZY GUy you!!! Don't back your gay butt up on me, I'm not your type, unlike your many mancushes like Clemens, Pedro, Betapuke.
