Nothing doing

Cash_steinIf the Yankees have come to a decision regarding their next manager, they aren't tipping their hand. Through public relations guru Howard Rubenstein, the team just announced this:

“There has been widespread speculation about who the next manager of The New York Yankees will be.  The evaluation process is continuing and there will be no immediate decision or announcement.”

Brian Cashman is believed to be in Tampa huddled with the Steinbrenners to discuss where they're going. The Yankees could still reverse field and have something cooking Friday, but as of right now, it's looking like there will be nothing to report for Thursday evening. Sit tight, Don Mattingly, Joe Girardi and Tony Pena.

Either that, or the team has come to a decision - it is a three-horse race, after all, and only two candidates are thought to be running seriously - but Bud Selig doesn't want the World Series interrupted. In any event, Tom Petty was right. The waiting is the hardest part.

I think any of the three would be a good choice provided Pena stays as Bench Coach if Mattingly is named Manager. We need a catcher's experience with all the young arms being counted on in 2008. I also think a six man rotation would be useful to limit the innings on those young arms come September.

I'd listen to the idea of a 6 man rotation next year. I would rather see a good enough bullpen to bail out a young starter if he gets into trouble, though. The key to competing with The Chowds next year is going to be getting our bullpen rebuilt. I think we are better offensively and our starting rotation is almost as good. Where they have us (and everyone else) whipped is their bullpen. We have to acquire at LEAST 2 good/excellent RP's in the off season, or we might as well fold the tent. My vote is for Scott Linebrink and Jeremy Affeldt.

LOL. Is George asleep in that picture?

Cash: Uh, ....Mr. Steinbrenner? Mr, Steinbrenner? Sir? Wake up, sir. Oh no, did you die on me?

yeah
everybody scroll up- and look at boring cashman's eyes, he is trying to look eye-to-eye with the biggest yankee fan.

somebody please give me a letter (person) to blog about, getting bored here....

I would be cautious about giving up on Igawa "too" soon. A good lefty is VITAL to the success of a Yankee campaign. I haven't done any research, but I would guess that the Yankees have never won a Pennant without a great lefty in the rotation. I think that with a full off-season in the Yankees system, that Dave Eiland can make a good pitcher out of this guy. Japanese baseball may not be the MLB, but it's pretty **** close, and he was great in his home country. He wants to succeed, and he's had a terrific attitude given the horrible rookie season he had. I say a deal would have to be completely AWESOME for us to give him up. Besides, Dice K didn't fair THAT much better this season, and the Chowds had to pay 2x more to look at him.

boring booo's bother bronx bombers, but barely bother brothers buying boston bleachers. burrying body by barking boston blunders, bullpen busting barriers breaking boundaries by bypassing big balls by bunting batters. booo boston boo, broncos better bust, break, & bat, before boston baffles-by & bystanders become boston bandwagoners. boston bound by blood.

Beholding best & brightest batters and bowlers before Bell, barks by baking Bean Burritos by boston baserunner before bowler & backcatcher bust baserunner's bypath. But baseball brothers beseige by burgers & beer by Bell besettling bean or beef baked bread bell by box besatysfying bites.

chaz, other teams might think what you think...that Igawa could develop into a decent pitcher, so they might be willing to take him in a package deal for an ace who is a free agent. If thats the case I'd personally trade Igawa in a heartbeat and take the already established great pitcher. I think the Yanks should offer igawa up as bait, and if no ones interested...dave can work magic.
The main pitching focus should be the bullpen cuz really there is no definite return.... the main starting pitcher issue is finding an ace to back up wang. The bullpen issue...is finding a bullpen from top to bottom. priority is....ya know.

give *** a slap & wong a bong and petitte some credit

ace joba should face big papa

fix the bullpen holes

so balls fly to foul-poles

Please pick your NYY 2008 Manager.

A. Girardi

B. Mattingly

C. Pena

M. Mickey Mouse

Sportsgirl, like I said an awesome deal. If someone's willing to cough up a staff ace for Igawa and a few other "prospects", see ya, Kei.

Redsoxlose, I choose none of the above and nominate myself.

UHHHHH ohhhhhhh!!!!!
I can see the headlines now for '08:

"Yanks Crash and Burn with Chaz at Helm"

LOL!!!!

***REVISED QUESTIONS***

Please pick your NYY 2008 Manager.

A. Girardi

B. Mattingly

C. Pena

D. Mickey Mouse

E. Chaz Bedlam

An "awesome" deal? Please, Igawa has to show he is worth an "awesome" deal on the mound, and so far he hasn't come close to get an "awesome" deal done, and who knows when or if he ever will be good enough to be worth an "awesome" deal. The Yanks probably shouldn't wait around either, try and trade him for bullpen help 'cause that is all he is worth right now.

Whatever, Matt. I would take these Yankees to a 120 win season. And, an 11 game playoff-win-streak is a freaking guaranty!

Okie-Dokie then, that's good enough for me. I nominate chaz for manager!! IF he fails we can all stone him while he stands on the pitching mound at Yankee Stadium. Just kidding!!

Wow!!! Talk about your closing ceremonies for a great stadium!!! LOL!!!

vote = B

i think people around the league are very skeptic about Japanese players,

i would say its a fity fifty out there,

those that have them are seatlle, colorado, boston,us,and just a few others, primarily they have to become more openminded about matusi's and suzuki's, so for now, we really cant market igawa that well. clubs have to get over a mind set before they can agree to give over mathews richards, pauls & kevins and.

this comment is not to offend anyone, but to state the affaris of MLB clubs around the nation

chaz with you being a NYY skipper would you have a: "performance based contractual sextretary"?

would your "PBCS" acompany you on all road games, in those dog days of summer, air conditioned hotles, i mean hotels, in florida, california and those rainy games in toronto?

chaz i see you winning, and your slugging is over the roof.

I'll tell you this, I would take the stoning if I fell on my face. Here's a real guaranty; if I was manager, I would easily lead the majors in ejections. With as much as I holler at Blue through my tv, I would probably deck one of 'em in person.

Redsoxlose,

Um.............Is the Pope Catholic?

i think if mickey was manager he would get his brother mighty to bat 3rd.

a true NYY fan would go to taco bell on tuesday and then drive to fenway and throw the **** taco on the pathetic mound

i thought the grass on the mound was done very badly, it appears as though one sock is a medium, while the other sock is a boys 10-12 size.

what kind of **** is that. and on the mound of all places, disgusting socky approach

me and my crazy mind

the redsox's pitcher was on the "heels" of the stupid sock,

my 8th grade teacher use to have the toughest time with me, saying stuff like boy' you make no sense so go to the principals room, or boy go stand outside, i swear that man never saw my words amount to anything. mister Dodecci of jhs 217 in briairwood Queens, NY, late 80's early nineties.

If Cash can talk the Steins into bringing JG in here, I will never get on Cash again, no more cracking the whip on Cash, I'll be his best friend. And I had a dream last night, about what it would be like to be a Boston Sports fan...The Sox are set to win another championship, The Patriots are at the top of their game, The Celtics are looking like they are going to tear it up on the court, even their college football teams are ranked high this year, but then I woke up and I put on my Derek Jeter shirt, I guess it was more like a nightmare.

Have you guys heard that the Dodgers want to hire Joe Girardi? ESPN reported it yesterday.

And Red Sox Loose, how about doing a letter post for Troy Tulowitzki, yeah he's on Colorado but his fave player is Derek Jeter and he even wears number 2 and of course he's a short stop, he's my age and he is one of my new fave players....come on do a Tulowitzki post....

boston is a "red coat-patriot"

ny is a "dandy-Giant"

chicago is "cub" in the summer & a "bear" in the winter

I did hear that LA had their eye on my man, if he doesn't get the Yankee job, I will keep up with him LA....Wasn't LA a team that was interested in Alex also?

Tough temptation to trump Troy Tulowitzki

taking tall tasks to talent typers touching talks together, teasing the "torre team" to top the team's toughest torcher. Troy tells teamates to toughen the talent, tide together, to travel to tiny-taney-tall-town to tear the temper that the team's trigger tough table talks to tell tales to take "Two Times" to travel to the talented team that tore the tribe to thoughts. Troy Tulowitzki teaches teamates to trust the talented twenties to take torre's thoughts, take the teams top torch, turnaround the tables.

Tomorrow Troy Tulowitzki tears the three times, to the talented thrower that threw to tough talking taiwanese teams, troy takes the thrower to three triples to ten times, teamamtes touch the "temple" that takes them to tie.

Then the toughest three takes to take the ticker tape trophy takes tough talking tough thoughts to tear the torch the teamates tears tells the traveling tokens to twenty thousand troopers.

the-end

Whoa thanks r-s-l, sweet.

Jeterstar,

Did you get your e-mail?

pamela,

i kid you not, it was easy for me to write it up, but it just took me forever to read it. i hope you followed the little story and read that troy' will go three for three (triples that is) and tie and win, i really hope they can turn it around.

got any other L-etter blogs,,,anyone else??

Yeah I think sent you one back....Chazzy.

Matt Holiday....Red Sox Loose...

sure new englands having fun..but we can make our own fun. Even without sportz in Ny we can "drop it like its hot"...
so i spoke to my euro history teacher today during class cuz he was bred in the bronx and he said he'd like girardi but he knows it'll be Donnie. I'm not making predicitions(cuz i really dont care who gets it) but its sounds like JG will need that job with the dodgers...donnie is everyones front runner

I'm serious Troy is awesome but I don't know what he did yesterday, I guess I'll look it up, I was way too tired to watch that game yesterday, even to see Troy, I couldn't do it.

Well I heard on ESPN that Cash likes Girardi more, so I'm hoping he can talk the Steins into it, I think I could probably talk Hal and Hank into it.

matt holiday

holiday holding up headcount, happy how he hit hard, hoping humorously, hoping he had handed high hopes heading home. His handycap having haunted hillariously how his hand held him hope, he hampered hopes. Holiday has helped hungry headstrong humans, how he hero'd his hide hovering homebase helping helm heresay his homgame "holday hello" he has hampered his hunger heading home.

hooray hooray holiday, he has headache hanging him, have holiday healthy, human healing holiday.

pamela

only one more from you, got to give other a chance now

also i will be leavin work so chat on monday,

Cool post Red Sox Loose, but I did hear that he got picked off first base yesterday, real smart Matt Holliday wake up dude.

jeterstar, my dad just got me tickets to the rangers vs Pitts. game at the MSG!! he asked why i wanted to go...i said I miss hockey... (im sure)
Matt, Dolphins are in London! they got so horrible that USA doesnt even want em...jk. Who do you think would win. You think miami luck can change in London?

On some Aol blog this person posted this..i thought it was interesting..i actually agree with some of it

"Wouldn't it be really fun to watch if nobody is willing to take the Yankees' manager's job because they don't want to work for the Steinbrenners? Let one of Steinbrenner's sons do it and deal with the fans and the NY media if they know so much about baseball. What they haven't figured out is that Torre had to play with what they bought for them...old, however great in the past, pitchers who couldn't be factors in the playoffs because they were worn out after the 162 game schedule. Okay, they have a couple of good young pitching prospects now, but what are they going to do about replacing Pettite, Mussina and Clemens? You need three VERY effective pitchers to even think about getting deep into the playoffs, and the Yankees don't have them"

pamela,

i mentioned hid hand in the letter blog, ya gotta read between the lines

"how his hand held him hope, he hampered hopes. Holiday has helped hungry headstrong humans"

hand held him hopes = he couldnt reach the base in time

has helped hungry = tried getting us all free tacos from taco bell

you do know that right........

Lucky Girl, Sports G., I need to check the Dallas Star's sched. to see if 'Sid the Kid' is coming to play in Dallas...I am for sure going if he comes.

I was checking out Chaz's F.A list. Yanks have a week bench. I say sign Brad Wilkerson. He can play LF and didn't he catch in Montreal? Also, Luis Castillo or Mike Lamb. They play multiple positions which is key. Keep Posada & Molina. I actually like Dougie M & Phillips @ 1st. Mike Lowell @ 3rd. Bye-Rod. Rowand in Center. He's a balls to the walls player. Shawn Greene, Geoff Jenkins, or Melky in Right. Damon in Left. This is my scrappy team. Giambino & Godzilla DH. I like Linebrink, Affeldt, & Hawkins in the pen. Mo as closer. No Mo, then Borowski. Bring back Pettitte no doubt. Coach Girardi. You can criticize my choices as long as it's constructive.

One of my friends loves the Rockies and I'm going to let him have it, if his team let's the Sox win another championship without putting up a fight.

obsportsgirl,

No matter where the Dolphins will play, it's still going to be the same old ****. This team is truly pathetic this year. The defense just can't stop anyone from scoring. They can't stop the run or pass. It seems to me the only good move they made since the offseason is to let Culpepper go. He has been very mediocre with the Raiders. So much for him being the better quarterback like some people thought he was. The Phins also lost Ronnie Brown who was leading the league in total yardage, and was second in the AFC in rushing, that after losing Green for the year, and trading away their best receiver. Did you hear the story about Zach Thomas getting whiplash in a car accident after the Pats game, he was hit by a Pats fan, don't it just figure. Actually I thought that was kind of humorous. But when it rains it pours, it just can't get worse for a football team.

As for replacingMussina, Pettitte, and Clemens, I think they may have it covered. Clemens is done no doubt, but I feel Pettitte will come back so you have a starting rotation of Wang, Hughes Chamberlain, Pettitte, and Kennedy, and Mussina goes to the pen. IF Pettitte leaves the Yanks will replace him with either a free agent pitcher like Kyle Lohse, or Jason Jennings or go with guys like Steven White or Humberto Sanchez if he can recover from TJ surgery, or as a last resort use Mussina as Pettitte's replacement.

I do a mean Brit accent Matt. I heard one of your boys from the Fins didn't even know where London is....that's funny, another dumb jock.

jeterstar,

Not only is that funny, it's freakin' embarrassing. Got any plans for the weekend?

Don't your Colts take on the Pats next weekend?

Pamela, further than that, he said that he didn't know that they spoke ENGlish in ENGland! That is a not dumb jock, that is a guy that is completely brain dead. Another prime example of a guy getting through the enire school system solely on his athletic ability. What a joke our education system has become. I REALLY hope he was kidding.

I'm sorry "entire". Rofl, I guess I am a victim too.

I got your e-mail, Jeterstar.

I always have plans for the weekend Matt, come on. I have a tee ball game tomorrow morning, I'm a coach you know, but me and my bro-in-law are both one step closer to going ape on those **** kids, my own nephew included, JUST HIT THE **** BALL, FOR CHIRST SAKES, IT'S RIGHT THERE, JESUS. Ok I got it out of my system, I wouldn't want to make those brats cry. And plan on watching baseball at my fave sports bar and probably a little shopping. And my boys play the Pats on Nov.4..got it circled on my James Dean calendar.

jeterstar first we got the panthers right? then my flight is next week...omg u dont understand how excited i am!!
that dumb jock cracked me up!! omg...matt so srry bout the phins...nodiggidee you have a completly new team youd like to have. Too much change is a bad thing. i think the manager situation alone needs time to get used to.

what's dallas's hockey team? they have one? thats cool...

Yeah we have to play the Panthers, meow, I'm so scared, not. The Fins might go winless this year, has that ever been done...sorry Matt, but ****.

The Dallas Stars...Mike Madano? I guess you never heard of them, they play in the same are as the Mavs.

nodigidee,

I doubt that this team will go with another platoon at 1st, not after the failure they had at 1st this season. The Yanks need a legit 1st baseman to fill that hole not a band aid solution. Besides Meintkiewicz can't even hit, the Yanks should just dump him. Shawn Greene's career is tanking, the Yanks may not even get Lowell, Jenkins is a bit injury- prone, Borowski isn't really the type of player the Yanks should even think about going after. He's a little overrated, and a bit too old. I like Wilkerson, and Hawkins is a decent pitcher, not sure if he is really worth though.

i know the mavs..everyone knows the mavs...dirk nowitzki cracks the **** out of me and i have no idea why. God.. i crack my ribs when i see this guy...

Not by the Phins!!!!

Dirk gets on my nerves I want to trade him for Kobe Bryant...alright I'm out, talk to guys Monday, we better know who the manager is going to be later.

Actually, it hasn't been done by anyone.

If your 'Phins go undefeated in reverse, that will eliminate that '72 beatdown they handed everyone. You better hope they can pull one out, Matt.

the phins are winless? you joking..its been eight weeks!!

Yeah, it's been absolutely brutal. I'm hoping for dumb luck to rear its head in at least one game, but with my luck it will be a freakin' no-show, SNIFF!! SNIFF!! LOL?????????

The only good news is that they are not alone as the Rams are winless as well, and the Jets only have one win.

go phins, are season holders going there too?

see ya'll on monday

matt

i guess senty sinked ship...yeah we won!!

redsox,

I wouldn't bet on it, he has popped up from time to time to insult people.

Yes, season ticket holders are going to the game as well, what a waste of money!!!

Woop - there goes Cheez, oh my badd Chaz - giving his best shot as a book leg ESPN analyst - dude give it a rest.

Hey Cheez, I got another one for ya'

YOU AND DON "THE LOSER" ARE BOTH JINXZZZZZZ - GO TO BED BOZO

PEACE TO ALL MY OTHER FELLOW BLOGERS - HAVE A GOOD FU CK IN WEEKEND!

Thank you, RZA, once again your post has dropped the collective IQ of this blog another 15 points. Do you even know the definition of the word "jinx"? You make Sentinel look like Bob Costas. You are easily the most clueless Red Sox f- eeerrrrrr! - "Yankee Fan" I have ever come across. You have yet to make a point. The following quote comes to mind:

"Mr. Rza, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Go jump off a bridge, so that I may be assured that your seed will never dilute the gene pool.

rza1213? What is the signifigance of 1213? I know! It's the number of times you've typed the word "jinx" since you showed up. Nice looking out, *******.

By the way, Rza, I really have nothing better to do. If you want to match wits with me, SCOOTER, maybe next time bring a loaded gun to the shootout.

jinx[1,noun]
jinx[2,transitive verb]

Main Entry: jinx

Pronunciation: \ˈjiŋ(k)s\

Function: noun

Etymology: perhaps alteration of jynx wryneck; from the use of wrynecks in witchcraft

Date: 1911

: one that brings bad luck; also : the state or spell of bad luck brought on by a jinx

Thought I might help you out, son. Now then, if I have any influence over whether or not the Yankees win or lose, George Steinbrenner better start signing my paychecks.

Rza,

It's "B-a-d" not "b-a-d-d".

I think you meant "bootleg" not "book leg".

"Blogers" should be "bloggers". What you spelled would be pronounced "blow-jers", which would probably explain why you make no sense when you type. It's tough to see the keyboard when you're under the desk.

Feel free to mix in a proofread or a spell check every once in a while.

I'm a loser? Ok. Seems to me like anyone who idolizes an idiot like Rza, a suspected murderer (self defense my *****), and a low-down, stank, filthy, gangbanger is probably a world class LOSER. Wu-Tang! Wu-Tang! Wu-Go-Away!

Never more than right now, do I want to see Mattingly as the Yankee Skipper. Not because he is more qualified (I think Girardi is), or because I am actually wearing my Mattingly jersey today, but because it would tick off this loser, Rza, more than someone punching his momma in her yellow chicklets. You're clueless, Rza.

Oh, and one last thing for today, I promise. ANY idiot with an opinion, a cell phone, the internet, and the ability to read (sorry that counts you out, Rza) can be an "analyst".

rza,

You need to clarify what you mean when you call Mattingly a jinx, something you have never done. The Yanks didn't fail to win a WS because of him, he was just on bad teams like I have said. He was certainly twice the hitter Williams was.
