Alex Rodriguez speaks
Alex Rodriguez had some interesting thoughts in his pregame interview tonight with MLB.com today in Baltimore. Geremy Bass has the roundup, as Rodriguez touched upon his public scrutiny, his run at leading the All-Star balloting and even his hopes of someday owning a MLB franchise.
Meanwhile, back in the present, Bobby Abreu is back up to No. 6 in the Yankees lineup as Roger Clemens goes for career victory No. 350 (again) at steamy Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Baltimore fires the Major Leagues' strikeout leader in Baltimore lefty Erik Bedard, and there are plenty of seats still available if you can get to the park on about 15 minutes notice.

Interesting article. I wonder if his presence in this helped with the voting at all:

Hello everyone . Here are my thoughts on tonight's game . today , everything that is wrong with the Yankees reared its ugly head . I'll start with Clemens , which inevtably will lead to Cashsoender . Today , clemens wriggled free of trouble in the first few innings , but couldn't escape due damage in the 6th . So now , he had a bad start , yes , yes , but we saw that he isn't the savior many people thought him to be . His fastball today topped at 91 mph , and that is a terrible sign . his sinker was around 88 mph , not much difference from the fastball , so it was knocked around today . His fastball was missing alot , and his sinkers were nothing out of the ordinary . He will now have a record of 1 and 3 with a 5.32 era , definitely not worthy of the money he is receiving . That bullpen appearance didn't seem to help him , and he appeared to have hurt something in his arm . Why would Cashman knowingly wait for the season to start to sign Clemens if things weren't going right , when he could have outbid the Red Sox for Dice-K . Instead he got Igawa and had Clemens in mind as plan B . Do you see how harmful Cashman's decisions have been ?
Now onto the running game . today we saw how crazy the yankees were when Gomez was on first in the 3rd inning I suppose it was . They were so nervous , so out of their element , that after all the ****-chat cat and mouse game with Gomez , he steals the base on the very next pitch , on a fasball no less . Another sign of Clemens' waning fastball ( Mussina syndrome) . So let me point out something interesting to you guys . the Yankees have been run on 72 times , while only gunning down 19 runners . Overall , they have been outrun 72-54 . Bad .
1b and dH . I hate to admit the trilogy was right about Cairo at first , but for the wrong reasons . His bat is so cold , we can't expect him to stay there much longer . We don't need an offensive powerhouse , just someone who can play great dfense and at least bat .275 - .280 . damon as DH is no longer funny . his numbers at DH are horrible , near the bottom of the league . So here is why you guys were right . In a lineup that plays in the AL , the first batter and last batter can't be sure outs , like damon and cairo have become It makes it too easy for opposing pitchers . Those two things we need to address . Another funny thing . Our Pinch hitter today was Andy Phillips . Way to go Cashman . Bernie could have been useful .
Our struggle against lefties continue , enough said . Bruney goes 123 . If bullpen help is hard to come by in the trade talks , just try to converta starter from somewher else into a reliever . They still have to throw strikes and get people out . Plus , if you look hard enough , that bullpen gem lies somewhere in the bottom teams ( Al reyes?))Think about it . there is still hope , don't lose faith .

We Need BERNIE WILLIAMS BACK, he may not be in his glory days, but it should motivates fans and players. Just his presence brings positive thoughts to everyone. We Lost another game today, 4 to zip, and again trying to get a ninth inning rally... We look like Tampa Bay in winning games.

Face it folks this season is over. Regardless how many games are left this team needs to look toward its future. No wild card here. My first suggestion is both Cashman and Torre are gone. After that this team needs an everyday first baseman, another starter ( DO NOT SIGN A NL FREE AGENT ), a complete overall of its bullpen and a better backup catcher. Any thoughts by the fans in this blog who appear to care more about winning than some members of this team.

sentinelofgods clemens doesn't have a sinker he has a splitter so get that right and your guys bullpen ***** ever your closer mo hasn't been even average so go over pay for him after this year and you will all be watching us in the postseason

sentinel, all you did was repeat what Matth d said about first base from an earlier posting. He has always said this team needs a first baseman who can provide more offense than what it has gotten from Doug "No Offense" Meintkiewicz or Cairo or Andy Phillips. He doesn't have to be a Teixeira or a legit power hitter. You're probably one of the idiots who took the position "If it Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It" in regards to the first base situation or the position of not needing more offense. Looks like Matt was right all along, and all you have done is repeat it. First base has been a mess since the beginning of the season, where the heck have you been? You're boring us again. Go back to the Sesame Street blog like Rocket suggested. One last thing, you give real Yankee fans a bad name.

Another stinker of a game, not a surprise there. Time to break this team up, and wait for next season.
jhtravers, couldn't agree with you more. Not because I have been saying it all season, but because it's the truth. The first base situation has been a total disaster from the start. You combine that with the fact this team has a putrid bench providing absolutely no credible depth, and no DH, and the fact certain starters continue to struggle, it's no wonder this team has been as putrid as it has been this season. Let the trading begin.

pgarret , for your information , there is no sesame street blog . Secondly , I admitted matt was right , but for the wrong reasons . Cairo could have continued to play , even if he was batting ,220 or something . The problem has compounded with the fact tha Damon will never work out as DH and we have no one to pinch hit for him , ok? So mattsaikirolemodel767 was right , but for the wrong reasons . If Damon were batting .290 something and we had some legit benchplayers who could come in and do some PH , this wouldn't be an issue . And pgarrett , if I ever meet you , I'll punch in the face . I'm going to New York in November , so I am going to drop you an e-mail to meet and destroy you . I doubt you'd even dare to meet me . Why the violence? Stop saying I am obsessed with 13-14 yr. olds , OK? If I like getting h e a d from senior girls (17yr.olds) from my local Private and public High Schools , that is my thing , ok? I am 23 ,I can still do it if I want . I know for a fact you would too , unless you are ***** , something I wouldn't doubt! You are probably too old too , and don't have a sweet meat like I do .
Don't ever say that again , or I will seriously track you down . Beleive me , I can . And we can drop it down like hard ************* , ok?

Susan - "Yes, you are 100% correct" - Waldman, reported tonight that the Angels have told Hilenbrand that he will be designated for assignment by Friday, and that she thinks that, gosh, the Yankees will certainly be the team to pick him up.
Sterling, always looking for the positive, responded that the Yankees have always liked him, and that he always hit well against them.
So, folks, don't give up on the season yet! Help and relief is finally on the way!
All together now: Hooray!!!
This is making me so sick. I haven't been this embarrassed since the forgettable '91 season.
Torre does not have the ability to kick this team very hard in the pants. Should "professionals" like this need it? Apparantly so. They lose in the post season because they cannot get up for it, since, according to Torre, it's the same game. Remember Sheffield last post season? Bobby Cox does the same thing in Atlanta, which is why the Braves won't win anything meaningful under him, either.
Another interesting observation: it seems that whenever the Yankees get "up" for a series and do well, they tank after that. Last year, after the epic 5 games sweep at Fartway Park, the Yanks went to Anaheim losing 2 of 3 (nothing new there) and looked terrible doing it. Then they lost a bunch of games to the White sox or some other team.
They played the Mets last weekend (before hitting the road to COL and their current skid), and then have lost all these games.
Can this team not keep it up? Can they not show us, their fans, some life and heart?
Torre also has no clue how to use the bullpen. And the good arms he has, he ruins. That game with Wang a couple of weeks ago is the perfect example.
It is not enough to be frustrated. They should be frustrated after a TWO game losing streak. What they have done this year is OUTRAGEOUS, and DISGRACEFUL. How much longer can this be allowed to continue?

Sentinel, I'm soooooooo scared. Just to let you know, Matt had also stated the same thing about the DH too. One last thing I'm not sticking up for Matt because he needs me to, it's just that I remember what he posted, and he said the exact same things regarding the DH position. One last thing, GROW UP!!!!!!

yoew , thanks for you rant . You are not alone . Cashman is the main culprit , with Joe in second place . You are wrong about Joe and Cox , though . they may have their peculiar managing styles , but they have both been World Champions , ok . Now , he is no longer diong it right , so i think its time to letJoe go . the braves never realized that after we swept them in 1998 , and that is why they haven't won anything since then . Joe is beggining to resemble him . But dude , they are both HALL OF FAME managers , so don't go off on them like that , please? Joe is really doing a bad job , I'll agree with you on that .
Here comes Shea Hilenbrand !
Whatever , man .I no longer can speak of the yankees first baseman , cause there isn't one . Terrible , terrible!
Hey , everyone .Yadier Molina was signed for near minimum for the 2007 season . It is old news , I know .But Ccouldn't Cashman have tried to sign him for , say , 2 million more than what St. Louis gave him? He is alot better than Wil Nieves . Just another Cashspender blunder , I thought , even though Yadi has missed some games due to injury , he would have been the perfect replacement for Posada for when he leaves , and a superb back-up .

LOL what becomes of yankee fans when you all stink to funny..... Any way sentinelofgods remeber the sinker splitter mixe up since he is throwing a splitter not a sinker you want it around the same speed as your fastball so the hitter swing over the top and not pick up on the diff. in speed so as far as baseball knowledge goes come on man. And no i am not getting in the middle of your all's cat fight and getting head from a 17 year old being you are 23 is wrong go tell a cop what you are doing and see what he does to you. Has far as Shea goes get him he will blow up your powder boat like no one else. You all should look at the pirates for middle/starer help. Go redsoxs

Hey, Red Suc*s fan: Go back to Fart-way Park, and worry about your own misery and getting swept by Seattle. And remember, this Yankee team will still break your heart, as it does every year (besides one fluke year). I wouldn't feel to smug under your fart monster.

Like I said , I had a Scotty Proctor moment . It is real hard sometimes when you are sooooo angry to not make mistakes . ANd yes , it wouldn't hurt for it to be 2-3 mph slower , israel . the Orioles proved tonigh it ain't that hard to pick it up , and since it is so similar im speed , they dropped the bat dow and hammered it . Conventional wisdom says it should be otherwise , but since roger's fastball was so flat and slow today , his sinker was too easy to pick up . He had no strikeouts today for only the fourth time in his career , for crying out loud . And don't be stupid , there are alot of things you can't tell a policeman , and that is one of them . We'll be watching y'all in the postseason , yes , but will you win it all before your grandchildren have grandchildren?

sentineloffools, it's easy to see why people can't stand you. Not only are you limited intellectually, but verbally as well. It's obvious from your postings, you don't even have a large vocabulary. Everyone is right, when they say your postings are stale, and unoriginal, and uninteeligent. You're noth but an embarrassment to real Yankee fans. You really are emotionally retarded. You need to grow up a lot. What do Tropical Island women, and Latinas have to do with grabbing men's tails. Keep your sexual preferences to yourself. One last thing, I just started posting recently, but that doesn't mean I haven't been reading other people's postings, I know all about you, and you bring nothing to the table. Don't forget your baby bottle when you come to New York, I'll pound you senseless with it!!!!!!
