Photos from Florida: Thursday edition

If you’ve been following along on this blog (or Twitter/Instagram) for the last few seasons, you know that I always pack my digital camera for Spring Training. I’m not a professional by any means, but I enjoy it. Shooting is a fun side project to work on alongside the thousands of words of copy that you can access every day on yankees.com.

With today marking the first official workout for Yankees pitchers and catchers, it’s a good time to share some of what got captured on the memory card this afternoon. I’ve also added some favorite shots from what I’ve been collecting over the previous days of camp, so hopefully you’ll enjoy those too…

I hope Mark T regains his old form again as a premier fielder, and darn good hitter, but wonder who will play first if he breaks down again?

Yankees better hope some of these prospects develop. They are now limited in signing international prospects for next two years to no more than $300,000 per prospect signee since they spent so much this year. Not good considering there is very little talent at the major league level and not much in the way of major league ready talent in the minors.

I realize not signing Moncada is not the end of the world, but it could be an indicator of the Yankees becoming mediocre. I hope not, but they desperately need an infusion of youth.

Then there’s this “There is a legitimate chance the Yankees already, by signing 10 of the top 30 International Prospects last July, have two players who could easily turn out to be as good or better than Moncada.” from:

I am extremely disappointed in the Yankees for not signing that young Cuban sensation. George would have never let him get away especially to the red sox. I think this spells the end of a great dynasty!

The Steinbrenners are idiots for continually bringing back Cashman who is nothing more than an incompetent GM. He has turned the Yanks into a very mediocre team.
