I didn’t even get into the relievers which are a bunch of patched together misfits and failed starters. Prestie Boy is gone finally but we’ll see him again, Daley who impressed me in the spring is worthless, Robertson is pitching on egg shells and keeps getting himself in jams, Presties buddy Kelley is up and down and now hurt, Betances is still eratic of late despite a very very solid run he may even make the all star team and/or become the closer but he still has Rick Ankiel in him. All the other guys who have come and gone are the same, most are not even major league talent. Cashman can’t tie his shoes without checking with Hal, he will be in Seattle and he will succeed if he can get talent there, Torre may even join him at some point in a non managerial role.

You’re completely ignorant about Betances, while he has had control issues in. The minors, he has improved a lot and it hasn’t hurt him. He is nothing like Ankiel not even close, this guy is much more of a pitcher than Ankiel could have hoped to be.

This is the team that Crashman put together and stuck the fans with, nothing but old, injury prone quick fixes who are past ther prime, and only two power threats in McCann and Tex who is way too fragile to rely on. Like I said before this team is nothing more than a 3rd place team, I really don’t see this team wasting their time on going after FA’s, especially guys who are mediocre on their own right, like HEAD-ley who is a mediocre hitter and very average power to help this team offensively.

I doubt Seattle goes after Crashman if this team completely flames.

This team is extremely limited. I was very much against signing Beltramo, he seems like another Pavano, Feliciano, Marte type who will cash out without playing much. Only a matter of type before he gets the surgery. Until then, we have a DH logjam but an injured player is taking most of the ABs. Soriano should be the DH, I know he’s not hitting but he can’t play any position in the field well enough. Suzuki needs to continue to be the everyday RF even though like Jeter, he’s offensively limited to most singles and groundouts. Tex is playing with pain killing injections, it might be working but this is only a temporary fix, like Sabastian his career is over. Tex could potentially but be a useful pinch hitter but he is making too many $$ for that. Then there is our suspended star or atleast star in his mind, I hope we simply cut him and eat the $$$ but again we haven’t found a replacement for him yet…key in Chase Headley who is having a down year but still has power.

The starting pitchers are an absolute disaster. Potentially we have 3 major league starters all the rest are minor league emergency starters. Of the 3, Kuroda is barely got anything left, Whitley rarely goes 5 innings and Tanaka although fabulous gives up a ton of homeruns.

It is really painful to watch Soriano play. He waves at pitches and doesn’t hustle. The way he’s playing now, he shouldn’t be playing at all. Maybe he’ll snap out of it, but there’s no evidence so far. Meanwhile Suzuki is better at bat (even against lefties) and surely in the field and on the bases.

OMG!!!!!!! The bats are really flying in bpuke/jerseyjoe’s belfry tonight. This board really wreaks with his love for HEAD-ley who hasn’t hit all year. No way should this team go after a mediocre hitter who ca’t even hit .200 don’t believe the BS Mr. Mediocrity throws around on this board, it’s just that……BS.

Yanks will most likely say NO to HEAD-ley, leaving bpuke crying in his spilt milk.
Yankees should also say no to Lee, he’s nothing more than an old, injury prone pitcher.

Mr. Mediocrity should just keep his love for HEAD-ley to himsel and in his own bedroom where it belongs.

looks like Phelps and Nuno are the two weak links in the starting rotation. If CC isn’t coming back soon the Yankees have to pick up at least 1 good starting pitcher, probably 2 given that Nova isn’t coming back this year. Phelps cannot go much past 5 innings and then gives up 3 runs but again it’s the Yanks lack of offense. If the starter gives up 3 runs or more it seems that the offense can never get more than a run or two at most. Even if Phelps gave up 3 runs in 5 innings a good offensive team can still win. Yankees are really offensively challenged this year in spite of blowing 200 million and having guys in the lineup that have been power hitters in the past(but the emphasis is on past) They’re now past it unfortunately. Blue Jays lose today and the Yankees could pick up a game which they need being 6 games behind but unless it turns around they’ll lose the opportunity. This win one, lose one stuff is killing them. Why can’t they string 5 or 6 wins together like the Jays do? I still think the Jays will win the division and go to the playoffs. I don’t see the Yankees picking up a wild card this year either.

I picked this up from Yankmeister website bigblueinsider, the Yankees are in talks with St Louis for a guy named Alan Craig. I have never heard of him. Apparently they passed on Morales asking price.

Morales rejects Yankees overtures, signs with Minnesota. Yankees will have to get created to get likes of Headley and a pitcher like Lee.

Beltramo is not hitting, neither is Sori, why not sign Morales and trade for Headley?

He came into the game with a 2.25 ERA, he has given up 2 runs thru 6 and still has 2.52 ERA

Whitley might be the 2nd best Yankees pitcher right now despite not winning a game yet.

For some reason it almost seems they don’t want this guy to be a “winner”.With all the moneyCashman has spent and most of it being a bomb, they basically play down any success at a lower salary level.Solarte is a prime example. They just don’t want to highlight success stories like Whitley. Just makes Cashman look like a bigger loser, spending so much on questionable players, only to have “nobodies” slip through the cracks and shine.
