Game 33: Yankees at Angels

The Yankees will play the final game of their three-game series against the Angels tonight here in Anaheim. Vidal Nuno has the ball for his fourth start and seventh appearance of the season, as manager Joe Girardi is keeping the Nuno and John Ryan Murphy battery together. Nuno faced the Angels on April 26 back in New York, allowing three runs and five hits in 4 1/3 innings and taking a no-decision.

The Angels give the ball to left-hander Hector Santiago, who hasn’t had a whole lot of luck this season. He’s winless in six starts — last time out, Santiago started with five scoreless innings against the Rangers but then allowed five runs in the next two frames. The Angels have scored just 11 runs for Santiago over those six starts.

The game will be televised on the YES Network and can be heard on WFAN.

nice to see Nuno and Phelps stepping up to fill in. If they keep pitching like this Pineda might have a problem breaking back into the rotation. It’s good the Yankees kept these guys as back up in case of injury. Betances is really the most reliable reliever the Yankees have, along with Robertson. He should be the set up guy instead of Kelley. Scored some runs and Jeter trying to prove something with all the scuttlebutt about him being pushed down in the lineup or being benched. Nice to see Tex back hitting the ball with some authority. Need to get McCann and Beltran going. A good series win. Hopefully they can carry it over to the Milwaukee series. The Brewers are hot right now.
