Game 31: Yankees at Angels

Greetings from AnaheimHello from sunny Southern California, where the Yankees will open a three-game series tonight with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. David Phelps is on the mound for the Yankees, with Jered Weaver drawing the starting call for the Halos.

The Yankees have lost four of their last five games, but defeated the Angels in two of three games last month at Yankee Stadium. The Angels are looking to get back on track after losing two of three to the Rangers, following a three-game sweep of the Indians here in Anaheim.

The game will be televised on the YES Network and can be heard on WFAN.

Here are tonight’s lineups:

I care, but I’m also not surprised. It’s been obvious since before the start of the season that this team will have trouble scoring runs. There are red flags all over the place when it comes to this team. Right now this team will have a hard time making it as a WC team if it doesn’t upgrade the talent it currently has on its roster.

Makoto is bang on. The whole infield sucks. ESPN has an article this morning suggesting Jeter retire midseason like Ken Griffey. There are not many answers out there. You could go get Headley but he will breakdown like Tex and isn’t worth a huge extension. Morales can play for 1 year.
I told you we were one starting pitcher short when they claim we had excess of 3. We now 2 pitchers short. The bullpen sucks. Claiborne and Kelley are straight SH**heads. Only Ichiro and Gardener can play the outfield but they don’t hit for much power. Soriano is excused as the DH but Beltramo like Soriano can’t play defense.

Jersey Joe out.

what more can you say? The bull pen blew it tonight but you’re not going to win many games hanging on with only 1 run. The offense wasn’t there either. Yankees with bases loaded and none out and Gardner strikes out for the 3rd time and Jeter hits into a double play? This team is starting to really show what it’s made of and where the holes are and there are a lot of them. This could be another long season.

now Claiborne walks in another run. Three relief pitchers in the 8th inning and they’ve walked in 3 runs. This is friggin awful. There’s no way with the Yankees offense tonight they’re going to come back to win this in the 9th. This game could have been won and they just blew it. The bull pen has been terrible.

now Thornton walks in another run and it’s 3-1. Friggin disaster. Man the Yankees are really going to be dropping behind in the standings if they keep this up. Is it nerves or what? These guys should be ready coming out of the pen.

what the hell. 8th inning in a 1-1 game and Kelley loads the bases and walks in a run? That’s totally ridiculous. The Yankees need every game they can get at this point. Way to spoil a well pitched game by Phelps. Bull pen lets the team down again. Very frustrating.
