Game 26: Yankees vs. Mariners

Robinson Cano returns to Yankee Stadium tonight for the first time as a visiting player. Will he be cheered or booed? Either way, it’s going to be a cold one — temperatures in the 40s and a nice refreshing breeze blowing in from center field. CC Sabathia and Chris Young comprise the pitching matchup.

The game will be televised on the YES Network and the MLB Network, and can be heard on WFAN.

Here are tonight’s lineups:

MARINERS (10-14)

Abraham Almonte CF
Stefen Romero RF
Robinson Cano 2B
Corey Hart DH
Justin Smoak 1B
Cole Gillespie LF
Kyle Seager 3B

Chris Young RHP (0-0, 3.50)

YANKEES (15-10)

this yankee team a sad sack team tonight. All the Cano hype has probably got to them plus they don’t want to play in the cold and wet and there’s always the danger of being on top of the division and not having to play desperation baseball. An all round lousy game that we hope is very rare.

can anybody tell me why Claiborne is pitching? The friggin guy was useless in spring training. He’s been useless every time he’s been up with the Yankees. Is that all they got in their minor league system? If it is, you’re going to have to trade for some bull pen help because Claiborne hasn’t got it. I guess Girardi has given up on this game and handed it to the Mariners. Yankees have no energy tonight, no enthusiasm, no desire to win. Let’s get outta here and home to our warm beds! That’s what it feels like. Even the fans didn’t come or are going home early. The team better get its act together for the next one.

you’re not going to win a game with 3 hits. CC had a bad inning and we’ve got very little offense tonight except from Tex but solo homer only gives you 1 run. Yankee bats need to get going. CC goes 5 which means taxing the bull pen again.

cold night in the Bronx. CC had a great game going until the 5th. But two feeble infield hits and Mariner hitters adjusting to CC’s pitching and a 2-0 lead becomes a 4-2 lead for the other team. Pretty typical for CC. Pitches lights out and then gives up a bad inning and gets himself in a hole. Yankees need to beat teams like the Mariners given their record and their inexperience. this guy Young is not a very good pitcher but he’s confusing the Yankee hitters tonight. Can the Yankees come back? not sure given their offense and the weather but we’ll see.
