Yankees roster moves

Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves:

· Signed RHP Bruce Billings to a Major League contract and selected him to the 25-man roster
· Recalled RHP Shane Greene from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
· Optioned INF Dean Anna to Scranton/WB
· Optioned RHP Preston Claiborne to Scranton/WB
· Transferred RHP Ivan Nova from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

There is no doubt that Pineda is an idiot. What makes the entire situation intolerable is that Girardi and company let this guy go out to the mound to pitch. They are more to blame than Pineda because collectively they are there to “manage” How long was Nova hurt before the cat finally was let out of the bag. How could these guys not be aware that he was hurting.

That is what I have on Billings.

Bruce Billings. Was he in the Yankee system or a FA not yet signed? I wondered about bringing Preston Claiborne up in the first place. He was terrible in spring training. He has a lot of work to do yet to get back to where he was last year, if he even gets another chance. I like Dean Anna. Too bad he had to get sent down again but the bull pen obviously needed some additional bodies and Pineda helped to create that by his stupidity. Now Pineda says he was sorry yada yada and it won’t happen again. Why did it happen twice dummy? Hopefully all this drama won’t affect the Yankees standing over the next few weeks. They’ve been sitting first in the division from the start. it will be interesting to see how this all affects how they play especially tonight in the last game of the series against the Sox.
