Game 12: Yankees vs. Red Sox

Hello from Yankee Stadium, where the Yankees and Red Sox are back in action after last night’s quick turnaround. The Yankees dropped last night’s contest, 4-2, evening the series at one game apiece. Hiroki Kuroda looks to continue his strong start to the season, while Boston gives the ball to John Lackey. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET and it is a beautiful spring afternoon in New York.

Some quick hits from the clubhouse and interview room:

  • The part of Derek Jeter will be played by Dean Anna in today’s performance. Joe Girardi said that was because of the quick turnaround following last night’s game. It’s Jeter’s second day off of the season and his first at home. Girardi understands that crowds want to see Jeter play in his final season, but said this: “I have to manage him with the focus of winning games and keeping him healthy, not it being a farewell tour. I wasn’t hired to put on a farewell tour.”
  • Mark Teixeira said that he expects to be activated from the disabled list on April 20 against the Rays at Tropicana Field, the first day that he is eligible.
  • Interesting note — Yankees pitchers had struck out at least 12 batters in each of their last three games entering play on Saturday (12, 12 and 13, respectively). That marks just the second time in franchise history they have done so, also doing it from May 17-19, 2002.

BIG win today. With Nova going tomorrow and not knowing what we will get from him, today was a solid win.

It was, this team FINALLY got something from McCann and Ellsbury continues to hit well, making a certain naysayer look foolish.

Hmmmm, Kelley got his second save? But how is that possible when Phelps is the closer of the team? Oh that’s right bpuke/Anonymous/rcgolf/chazbedlam is WRONG once again, the Yanks are still going with closer by committee just as I said they would.

Who said Phelps was the closer. Girardi said closer by committee. Learn how to read. He said Phelps, Warren and Kelley would all get save opportunities. I hope they ban you.

Thanks for agreeing with me. I said that the Yanks were using a closer by committee as you were drooling over another of your boyfriends. Man that bad weed really fogs that brain of yours, don’t they.

Another great power pitching 8th inning from Warren. Glad he’s in the pen no matter what the below poster says.

This coming from the same “genius” who kept passing the same BS about Granderson signing with the Yankees despite the story being complete garbage. Obviously delusions run in the family.

That was opinion still.

Nope you were passing it off as fact as you said he was staying based on his Twitter account. Man your BS is really stinking up this board.

Sounds like bpuker/rcgolf12/Anonymous/chazbedlam has completely lost it. Either his racist button is stuck in the On position or he is just plain stuck on stupid, or his meds have just gone bad.

No matter, he needs to cut out his racist garbage, it doesn’t belong on this board.

Bob and Bryan, can you clean up this blog again. The Saki is back again and he’s scared away our regular contributors with his nonsense.

I like Kuroda in this matchup assuming he can go 7+. I see Jeter is getting a day off.
