Next stop: Houston

Today’s Yankees-Marlins spring training finale has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

They managed to pull off Masahiro Tanaka’s award presentation for top rookie of camp – the James P. Dawson award – and a brief video tribute to Derek Jeter, during which Jeter was presented with the key to the city of Tampa.

Then… the skies no longer agreed with the afternoon, and that was that. Good call; thunder and lightning. We’re waiting outside the Yankees clubhouse for word from Joe Girardi on what news – if any – they’re ready to announce before getting on the plane.

The next time we see the Yanks on the field, it’ll be for a 4pm CT workout at Minute Maid Park on Monday, and then of course Opening Day on Tuesday.

I saw the radar and yeah…it doesn’t look like anything else will be happening outdoors today in Tampa and its surrounding areas. Yikes.
