Spring Game 6: Yankees at Blue Jays

dunedinThe spring home of the Blue Jays is Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, formerly Dunedin Stadium, over across the bay in Dunedin, Fla. I bring this up because some of the writers were taking a few guesses during batting practice at how old this facility actually is; my guess was that it was constructed in 1983.

I missed it by seven years, according to the Internet — the Jays have been playing their spring games in this park since 1990, but they’ve been in Dunedin for their entire existence. That’s our history lesson for the day.

It’s clear and sunny in the mid-70s, just another perfect day for spring baseball. The Blue Jays have TV and radio coverage for your viewing and listening pleasure.

Here are the lineups:

Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Eduardo Nunez SS
Carlos Beltran DH
Adonis Garcia RF
Austin Romine C
Brendan Ryan 2B
Russ Canzler 1B
Dean Anna 3B
Ramon Flores LF

Vidal Nuno LHP

Also scheduled to pitch: Bryan Mitchell, Shane Greene, Bruce Billings, Fred Lewis, Matt Daley.

Jose Reyes SS
Moises Sierra DH
Jose Bautista RF
Edwin Encarnacion 1B
Brett Lawrie 3B
Melky Cabrera LF
Dioner Navarro C
Anthony Gose CF
Ryan Goins 2B

Esmil Rogers RHP

Also scheduled to pitch: Todd Redmond, Brett Cecil, Aaron Loup, Jeremy Jeffress, Chad Jenkins, Neil Wagner, Casey Janssen.

This and that: Masahiro Tanaka’s next outing has been scheduled for Thursday against the Phillies in Clearwater. Tanaka will start the game, while CC Sabathia hangs back in Tampa to throw a simulated game. … Mark Teixeira is scheduled to play either on Thursday or Friday. … Michael Pineda threw a simulated game on a back field this morning and looked pretty good, shattering Zoilo Almonte’s bat with an inside fastball. Pineda threw the equivalent of two innings to Almonte and Scott Sizemore, and will next appear in a game. He’s scheduled to relieve Hiroki Kuroda on Friday night. … Joe Girardi said they’re shooting for early next week with Alfonso Soriano, who is still only about 80 percent recovered from a nasty bout with the flu.

I haven’t seen too much action but Tanaka looked fabulous.

Solid win today. BTW Both Roberts above, I don’t get to complain about Joba or Hughes this year. They are OUTTA here!!!!!!!!!

Win, win, win! Just checking to make sure that word doesn’t trigger the filter now!
