A-Rod, Cashman clear the air

Alex Rodriguez called Brian Cashman this evening at approximately 5:30 p.m. ET, according to Yankees director of media relations Jason Zillo. Cashman had Yankees team president Randy Levine patched onto the call, which lasted close to 30 minutes.

“It was constructive, healthy conversation,” Zillo said in a statement. “Everybody is on the same page. We’re all going to communicate and work together to get Alex back as quickly as possible. Everyone fully understands the protocols and processes in place. We are all back on track.”

can’t win scoring 0 runs and 2 hits. Hughes did a good job today, but again who knows what he’ll look like next game. That’s the problem. 1 good game and then 1or 2 bad ones. It’s the offense or lack of same that is killing us. We have a bunch of old retreads and second stringers trying to keep up with teams like the Red Sox and O’s. You can do it for a while like the Yankees have been doing but eventually reality settles in, which it’s doing now. No way is this a playoff team. Going to be a long and frustrating year.

Allan M. I agree with the points in your post. IF Joba is amiling the appearances in (which I believe he is) than it is either time to release him or trade him for prospects. Either way Girardi NEEDS to STOP putting him in games, especially ones the Yankees stand a chance of winning. Like last night’s. I stand corrected today tho. The good Phil Hughes showed up. Unfortunately, once again there is NO offense. When I look at the bottom 3 in the Yankee order I swear that my retired uncle could get them out, and he’s 90 plus. This is a VERY bad lineup. IF Cashman does one thing at the end of July, GET ANOTHER CATCHER!!!! Romine is NOT the long term answer for the Yankees behind the plate.

Joba knows his time in pinstripes is up at the end of the year & it’s confounded by the fact he clearly either wanted to start OR be anointed as successor to Mo, he knows neither of them is going to happen so he’s phoning in appearances. Trouble is in doing so when you combine it with previous issues he’s reducing his value every time he steps out onto the field, he’ll find someone dim enough to sign him for 3 years, but it won’t be with a contender or a major market team.

As for Arod/Cashman – both men chose their words poorly, neither comes out of this with any plus points, but ultimately it’s a further example of the contempt Cashman has for Arod. Problem is Arod went straight to one of the guys who ensured he’s still a Yankee and bleated – that’s not how you do business where I come from, if you got a problem you deal with it face to face. Incidentally, I say this on various groups all the time when people get grief for swearing, leave the profane language to me, us Scottish people have a way of making it sound so much classier and less abrasive! (and it’s not as huge a taboo over here either)

It is absolutely amazing that Girardi keeps running Fatso Joba out there. It is obvious he does NOT want to relieve and wants OUT of pinstripes. In short, HE SUCKS. And it doesn;t get any better tomorrow folks. BUST #2 also known as Phil Hughes goes to the mound. So chalk up another 4 inning outing by Hughes and another L. IF anyone in management sees these blogs, GET RID OF HUGHES AND JOBA!!!!

Joba——-6.38 ERA. AROD——–Well I think Cashman’s reaction was appropriate——-shut up. Ichiro just homered and without Joba’s poor pitching we have a lead. Make them both go away and I doubt anyone would miss them.

Seeknay: Your favorite Yankee pitcher Joba just came in the game at 4-3 and gave up a 2 run home run to probably put the game out of reach. Can you tell me why Girardi keeps trotting him out there in these close games? I can see if we’re ahead by 7 runs maybe but only 1 run? And the Yankees have bases loaded with 1 out and Nix can’t get it out of the infield and hits into a double play. It’s stuff like this that makes Yankee fans tear their hair out (and I don’t have a lot any more!)

He might not be the dominate pitcher he once was but he’s a HELL of a lot better than Hughes, Joba, Nova etc. Have to tell you folks Hal & Hank need to seriously consider getting rid of Cashman. He’s put this team in this situation, expecially the condition of the minor league system. This team needs to just get through the year and than hopefully rebuild. They need an overhaul in so many areas.

I think Andy should have retired before the season. he’s not the dominant pitcher he was. He’s too hittable and 50 pitches and he’s not out of the 3rd inning yet. He was great in his day but pushed it one year too long. He’s really struggling this year unfortunately. I don’t think Overbay is our starting 1st base for the rest of the year. Good back up. Need someone like Swisher who can play 1st and outfield and is a strong and consistent hitter.
