Spring Game 15: Yankees at Blue Jays

Here at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, right-hander David Phelps will make his fourth start of the spring. He’s still fighting for a spot in the Yankees’ rotation, a battle with Ivan Nova that has flown somewhat under the radar. 

“They’re both throwing pretty well. When I look at them, they’ve done everything that we wanted them to do,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said this morning. “Phelps’ command has been very good. Nova’s command has been good. His curveball’s been excellent. They’ve both pitched well. It is an interesting competition, and we believe [Phil Hughes is] probably going to be ready, but it could become a moot point if he’s not.”
