NEW YORK YANKEES (90-65) at TORONTO BLUE JAYS (68-87)
RHP Ivan Nova (12-7, 4.94) vs. RHP Brandon Morrow (8-7, 3.28)
Thursday, September 27 • 7:07 p.m. • Rogers Centre
Game #156 / Road Game #78 • TV: yes • Radio: wcbs (eng.)/wado(span.)
We’re under the roof here at Rogers Centre as the Yankees look to inch closer to their goals of locking up a postseason berth and securing the American League East title. New York’s magic number to clinch a playoff spot is four entering play tonight and their magic number to win the division stands at six, with the Orioles enjoying an off-day.
Ivan Nova has the ball for the Yankees tonight as he tries to complete what manager Joe Girardi described as an “up and down” season on a positive note.
“I think you can look at his last two starts and it’s kind of been how his year was,” Girardi said. “He started out great, reeled off a bunch of good starts together, then he kind of went through a funk. Got hurt, came back, had a good start and then a not-so-good start. Tonight’s important. It’s important for us.”
