BAKERS DOZEN: With RHP Hiroki Kuroda’s victory last night, the Yankees now have three pitchers (also RHP Phil Hughes and LHP CC Sabathia) with at least 13 wins…  only St. Louis (four such pitchers) has as many…  marks the second time in the last six years the Yankees have had as many 13-game winners on the staff in the same season (also three in 2009).

COMEBACK TRAIL: The Yankees own 38 come-from-behind wins this season, tying Cincinnati and Milwaukee for the most such victories in the Majors this season (credit: Elias)…  surpassed their total from all of last year (37)… own 11 victories when trailing after six innings, two more than all of last year and one win shy of their 2010 total.

MR 2500: The next game for 3B Alex Rodriguez will be the 2,500th of his career…  will become the fourth active player to reach the mark, joining teammate Derek Jeter (who did so earlier this season), Omar Vizquel and Jim Thome…  with 2,875H and 1,184 extra-base hits, only two players tallied as many hits and extra-base hits through their first 2,500 games: Stan Musial (3,176H, 1,233 extra-base hits) and Hank Aaron (3,044H, 1,200 extra-base hits) – h/t Elias.

***2B Robinson Cano owns a .335 (175-for-522) career average against Orioles pitching, with 66 extra-base hits (41 doubles, 1 triple and 24HR)… marks his most homers against any opponent… is a .360 (94-for-261) career batter with 53R, 26 doubles, 11HR and 33RBI in 62 career games at Camden Yards…since 8/22/08, owns a .433 (65-for-150) average with 39R, 17 doubles, 10HR and 23RBI in 35 games at Camden Yards…has hit safely in 25 of his last 27 games at Camden Yards, and in 32 of his last 35.

The Yankees had just as many pitches thrown right down the middle and were losing 6-1 and never took the lead. Yes they came back after a pitcher that hasn’t pitched in months left the game. Look the Yankees have been doing this all year coming back late in games and still losing. You can’t score in only a few inning in each game and win.

At this point the Yankee bullpen is a disgrace. You have to wonder what preparation is for this team’s farm system pitchers. Joba, Hughes and Robertson are just NOT mentally prepared for the major leagues. Robertson is so hittable it is disgraceful. You battle back to a tie and your bullpen gets shelled. NOT a formula for winning.

Pitches thrown down the middle tend to get hit hard. Bad job by the bullpen after a great comeback. It is just that simple. Not Yankee type baseball.
