Information from the Yankees’ media relations department:

HARD AT WORK: The Yankees are 34-27 on Labor Day in the Expansion Era (since 1961)…are playing Tampa Bay for the third time on Labor Day, having played them three times on the day prior to this year (won, 7-4, 9/6/04 at the original Yankee Stadium and swept a doubleheader on 9/7/09 at the current Yankee Stadium, 4-1 and 11-10).
· The Yankees are not playing at home on Memorial Day (5/28), July 4 and Labor Day (9/3) in the same season for the first time since 2006…are playing their second ‘holiday’ game at Tropicana Field this season, also winning on July 4, 4-3.
· According to Stats, LLC, the Yankees have finished in first place in 39 of the 43 seasons when they have led the division on Labor Day.

BASE KNOCKS: The Yankees were held to 6H or less in each of their three games vs. Baltimore over the weekend… the three-game stretch matches their longest stretch of being held to 6H or fewer over the last 20 years (20th time since 1993, second this season–also 5/15-17)… was the first time the same team held the Yankees to 6H or less in each game of a series of at least three games since Tampa Bay from 7/30-8/1/10 at Tropicana Field.

FOR OPENERS: The Yankees are 28-15 (.651) in series openers in 2012… have lost three of their last four… have lost the first game of the road trip on each of their last five trips and are 4-7 in such games in 2012.

This season is starting to look like one of the biggest CHOKES in NY Yankee history. Right now the lead is one game and I wish I could say things will get better BUT until this team starts playing with some guts it is going to be a long September and I look for some changes on next season’s roster, especially in the pitching category.

Good job CC, you pitched tough todya. Unfortunately VERY little support. And can anyone tell me IF Girardi knows what a sacrifice BUNT is? This team has NO team speed at all and after this series they will be fighting for a wild card. You can complain about injuries all yo want Yankee fans but SOME players have NOT played up to what they are being paid to do.

Even CC is struggling. This team is pulling a redsox choke. Like I have posted a few times regardless of this year’s outcome this team is looking at an overhaul.
