Teixeira has Grade 1 strain of left calf
Mark Teixeira is hoping for the best, but the Yankees first baseman figures to miss at least a week of action with a Grade 1 strain of his left calf.
“It could be as little as a week, it could be two weeks,” Teixeira said. “I don’t really know. I just know that the MRI showed a strain.
“It’s very frustrating. We’ve had our share of bad luck, as most teams in baseball have. We’ve just got to fight through it. We’ve had guys step up all year for us, so whether it’s a week, two weeks, whatever it may be – we’ll have guys step up.”
Last year, Derek Jeter had a similar injury and missed three weeks, pausing his pursuit of the 3,000 hit mark.
