AT A GLANCE: The Yankees will play the first game of a three-game series vs. the Chicago White Sox tonight at U.S. Cellular Field… is the first game of a six-game road trip that includes an off day on Thursday followed by a three-game series at Cleveland this weekend…  just concluded a seven-game homestand, going 5-2, after taking three of four games from Texas and two of three games from Boston…  this series wraps up a stretch of 20 straight days without a scheduled day off from 8/3–22 (11-6 thus far)…  beginning tonight, play 16 of their next 22 games on the road from 8/20-9/13.
ð Have won five of their last seven games and nine of their last 12.
ð At 72-49 (.595), own the best record in the AL, and the third-best in the Majors, trailing Washington (75-46, .620) and Cincinnati (74-48, .607)… are a season-high-tying 23 games over .500 for the fourth time this season…  own a 5.0G lead in the AL East, matching the largest current division lead in the AL (also Texas).

AN EVEN DOZEN: With Hiroki Kuroda’s win last night, the Yankees now have three pitchers each with at least 12 wins (also Hughes and Sabathia) prior to Sept. 1 for the first time since 2006 when Chien-Ming Wang, Randy Johnson and Mike Mussina accomplished the feat… will look for a win from RHP Ivan Nova on Tuesday to give the staff four 12-game winners prior to Sept. 1 for the first time since 2003 (Clemens, Mussina, Pettitte and Wells).

FOR OPENERS: The Yankees are 27-12 (.692) in series openers in 2012… is the best winning pct. in series openers in the Majors in 2012… have won nine of their last 12.

JUST VISITING: The Yankees are 33-25 (.569) on the road in 2012, the third-best winning pct. in the Majors behind Washington (41-23, .641) and Atlanta (34-22, .607).

God Logan is as BAD as Joba. Can ANYONE get the opposition out with this bullpen?

Take the lead 6-5 and what does Girardi do???? Send Joba out there AGAIN and it’s tied. Girardi does Joba have X-rated pics of you somewhere? I’m bewildered by this, you are in a pennant race and you keep sending this guy out to give up runs. STOP IT Girardi. He’s DONE, the smartest thing you can do is release him so he can go bounce on a trampoline again. Tired of his excuses and you putting him in.

Will someone, anyone on this Yankee Blog explain to me WHY Girardi insists on bringing in Joba over and over again. Look Joe, Chamberlain CANNOT get anyone out anymore. The guy is DONE, FINISHED, THROUGH!!!!!!! For God’s sake STOP bringing this guy into games thinking the result is going to be any different. The definition of STUPIDITY is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
