SWEEPING SENSATION: The Yankees today will look to complete their ninth series sweep of the season, which would tie their total from all of last year…  are looking to complete their first four-game sweep against Texas since 8/11-14/05, and their first four-game sweep against any team since Chicago-AL from 8/1-4/11…  are looking to sweep a four-game series at the current Yankee Stadium for the fifth time, first since 2010 (Oakland, 8/30-9/2/10).

FROM THE LEFT SIDE: The Yankees are 25-15 (.625) against left-handed starters this season, the best such winning percentage in the AL and the fourth-best in the Majors.

HOME ON THE RANGE: The Yankees are 11-1 in their last 12 regular season games vs. the Rangers at the current Yankee Stadium, winning each of their last eight since 4/16/11… matches their longest-ever home winning streak vs. Texas (also 4/4/94-4/12/96).

IN CLOSING: The Yankees are 24-13 in series finales… have won five of their last seven finales at home.

Nova has gotten Hughes disease. One game good, the next bad. Still the guy kept them in the game and the O got the lead. Then the bullpen took them south. Now it’s Hughes turn. robert G. we now know why the front office got D. Lowe. To shore up this bullpen. When Girardi and company will finally figure out that Chamberlain is NOT the answer as a reliever or starter is beyond me. About the same time they figure out that Hughes isn’t the answer either. Neither one has progress over the past 5 years. And the one that has, Ian Kennedy, is pitching in Arizona.

bull pen didn’t do their joba today. Nova not great. Where did he get the nickname “Super Nova” from? Did he anoint himself? Now we have to await the always inconsistet Hughes who doesn’t instill confidence. We can only hope the Sox beat the O’s tonight and the Angels beat the Rays.

you’re right seeknay. Joba isn’t getting it done since he came back. And personally I don’t think he will for the rest of the year. He’s too much of a risk in the pen. Yankees had a chance to sweep this series but Joba has blown it. Nova wasn’t very good today either. And we’ve got our C team on the field today resting regulars so fortunate to have even put 6 runs on the board. Blew a chance to sweep the rangers which would have given us some swagger going into the American League championships if we were to meet them. We’ve also blown a chance to keep the pressure on the O’s and the Rays. Now we have to put up with inconsistent and hittable Hughes tomorrow.

As soon as Girardi brought in Joba I knew this game was history. Can this guy EVER have a three up, three down inning. For God’s sake Girardi, Chamberlain STINKS, stop thinking that is EVER going to change. The Yankees have given this guy enough chances, at the end of the year do NOT resign him RELEASE HIM. FED up with him.
