Information from the Yankees’ media relations department:

THREE AND OUT: The Yankees have lost three straight games, one shy of their season-high streak set from 7/19-22 (swept in four-game series at Oakland)… became the last team in the Majors this season to post a four-game losing streak… are one of three teams that has yet to lose five consecutive games this season (also Cincinnati and Tampa Bay).

The three straight home losses match a season high (also 5/19-21)… have not lost more consecutive games at home since a string of six straight losses from 5/11-20/11.

HEART AND HUSTLE: Prior to tonight’s game, CF Curtis Granderson will be recognized as the Yankees winner of the 2012 Heart and Hustle Award… the annual award, given by the the MLB Players Alumni Association, recognizes one player on each Major League team who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game… one player will be chosen as the final Heart and Hustle Award recipient, at the Legends for Youth Dinner, held in New York City on 11/13.

CLOSE CALLS: 10 of the Yankees’ last 11 games have been decided by three runs or less, with six of the games being decided by one run (0-6 in those contests)… the six straight losses in games decided by one run is the team’s longest such skid since 1995 when they lost seven straight one-run decisions in 1995 (credit: Elias Sports Bureau)… each of the Yankees’ nine losses since the All-Star break have been by two runs or less, falling by a combined 12 runs over those games.

JUMPIN’ JULY: The Yankees need a win tonight to secure a winning record in July…are 13-12 thus far…have recorded a winning record in the month of July in each of the last 19 seasons (1993-2011)… according to the Elias Sports Bureau, marks the longest winning stretch of Julys in Major League history… the previous record was 15, held by Pittsburgh (1899-1913).

They have played like the Chicago Cubs since the Oakland series. It’s August guys NOT the end of September, you have won NOTHING. And will someone tell me when Ivan Nova morphed into AJ Bustnett of last year. He has been absolutely terrible the last 5 times out. 11-5 now at home, Wake the H*LL up.

I can’t believe what’s going on here tonight. Yankees have been terrible the last week or so. The big lead they had is no more. They get 5 runs inthe first inning andlook like they’re finally going to get their offense going and then Nova gives up 7 runs in the second an 2 more since and Girardi leaves him in the game. Insanity.
