First-round pick Ty Hensley set to begin Yankees career

Ty Hensley, the Yankees’ first round pick in the June First-Year Player Draft, is set to begin his professional career.

According to Chase Parham, the right-hander signed for $1.2 million – a tick below the recommended slot bonus of $1.6 million – after a MRI showed an abnormality in his right shoulder. However, Hensley is said to be asymptomatic and is currently in the high 90′s with his fastball velocity.

Hensley had said that he was eager to get his pro career underway and anticipated a quick agreement with the Yankees. He took to Twitter last night to announce the good news:
