Rest prescribed for Aardsma; Phelps promoted to Triple-A

A few quick updates to share from the Yankees:

The Yankees are hopeful that David Aardsma will make a late season impact in their bullpen.

  • RHP David Aardsma (@TheDA53) was seen in Baltimore by Dr. Lewis Yocum (who performed Aardsma’s surgery) and Yankees team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad. Both doctors recommended that Aardsma have two more weeks of rest without throwing and then commence a throwing program.
  • RHP David Phelps has been transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre from Double-A Trenton.
  • RHP Joba Chamberlain (@Joba_62) is scheduled to pitch two innings on Saturday with the GCL Yankees vs. the GCL Blue Jays (10:00 a.m start).
  • Brooklyn Nets guard Joe Johnson (a six-time NBA All-Star) will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Friday’s game vs. the Angels, and Nets head coach Avery Johnson will join the Bleacher Creatures for the first-inning “Roll Call.”
