Nick Swisher leaves game after slide into plate
Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher was removed from Saturday’s game against the Nationals following a slide into home plate in the top of the sixth inning, and was diagnosed with a left quadriceps contusion.
Swisher appeared to limp off the field following the play, in which he was tagged out by catcher Jesus Flores on Russell Martin’s fielder’s choice to pitcher Jordan Zimmermann.
Swisher was replaced in right field by Andruw Jones for the home half of the inning.
