Information from the Yankees’ media relations department:

NO RUNS FOR YOU: The Yankees have held the Mets to 3R or less in each of their last 10 games against them… according to the Elias Sports Bureau, marks the Yankees’ longest streak of that kind against any Major League team since a 10-game streak against the Indians over the 1971 and 1972 seasons.

PENNING A TALE: The Yankees bullpen has combined for a 2.81 ERA (156.2IP, 49ER) this season, the second-lowest mark in the AL behind Baltimore (2.41) and the fourth-lowest in the Majors… their 88.9% save conversion rate is tops among all bullpens while their 19.5% of inherited runners scored is the third-best in the Majors.

SWEEPING SENSATION: The Yankees today are looking to complete their fourth series sweep of the season, third of at least three games (also 5/25-27 at Oakland and 4/9-11 at Baltimore) and first at home this season… last swept the Mets from 6/26-28/09 at Citi Field… last did so at home in 2003.

WRAPPING UP: The Yankees are 11-8 in series finales this season… have won their four of their last five finales… are 5-4 in finales at home.

Congrats to R. Martin on his two HR day. Watched the game on TBS and is it me or does John Smoltz have an AX to grind against the Yankees? Maybe it’s because of 1996 & 1999 but this guy was JUST a little anti-Yankee for me today.
