Game 45: Yankees at Athletics

Hello from the O.Co Coliseum, where the Yankees open a nine-game road trip that will also include stops in Anaheim and Detroit, kicking off a stretch that will see them play 15 of 21 games away from Yankee Stadium.

Ivan Nova has the ball tonight for the Yankees, bouncing back from his ankle injury as well as a tight hamstring that the Yankees have some concern about. It wasn’t enough to keep Nova from making the start, however, and he went through his pre-start routine fine.

He may catch a break with the A’s, who are the American League’s lowest-scoring offense at 3.70 runs per game coming in. Nova has allowed at least five earned runs in each of his last two starts, and four of his last five, and this will be his first career start against Oakland.

The A’s counter with Tyson Ross, who is making his first career start against the Yankees. He made two relief appearances against New York with the A’s back in 2010, allowing a run in 3 2/3 innings.
