Pettitte: “I feel like I’m ready” (with video clips)

Andy Pettitte said that he believes he is ready to rejoin the Yankees’ rotation after his most recent Minor League start, in which he permitted five runs (three earned) in five innings to the Pawtucket Red Sox, pitching for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in Rochester, N.Y.

Will Brian Cashman and the Yankees agree?

“I’ll let [Yankees management] let everybody know what we’ve got going on,” Pettitte said. “I feel like I’m ready. I feel like I’m ready to go up and I think they’re ready for me to come up. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Here’s video of Pettitte breaking it down, and typically hammering himself a little bit:

Pettitte scattered eight hits, struck out five and issued a pair of walks while tossing 92 pitches – 52 of which came in the first two innings. Here are a few additional video highlights:

It is time for Andy P. to pitch in the big leagues. With Mo down, bullpen needs help. Either Phelps or Hughes go to pen. I’d put Phelps back there in long relief as he did a nice job there. Even when Andy P. doesn’t have his best stuff he is very good at damage control. He never was an overpowering pitcher, but he knows how to win at big league level. Pencil him in to start on Friday or Saturday of this week—–the team needs him.
