Pettitte to pitch Wednesday for Trenton

Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte is scheduled to pitch for the Double-A Trenton Thunder on Wednesday, expected to throw 80 to 85 pitches, manager Joe Girardi said.

This rehab start, set for 7:05 p.m. ET against Erie at Waterfront Park in Trenton, would put Pettitte two or three turns away from joining the big league rotation. That is a nice boost considering the setback the Yankees had with Michael Pineda’s right shoulder.

geez…an over abundant group of starters sure got skimpy in a hurry. Pineda hurt, Kurada up and down at best, Hughes shaky, and Garcia is done. Garcia’s fastball is slower than a lot of pitchers change up. The hitters have too long to decide what to do with the pitch. They can sit back and wait.

If they march Garcia back to the hill again, that says a lot about the arms in the system and the potential starters in the pen…..

Didn’t say Garcia had a bad year, point I was making was that you had to take his numbers with a grain of salt. Last season was his a better all around season for him.

As of right now Pettitte is the only true replacement as he is most likely to last over the long haul and he has experience.

Phelps, Pettitte, or Warren. And when does anyone consider 12 wins and 6 loses a bad year, even with a 4.64?

What replacements?

In 2010 Garcia’s ERA was close to 5.00, and before that he barely saw the mound for 3 previous years.

Everyone forgets Freddy had a nice season in 2010 for the White Sox, but a threepeat may be too much to ask. The only starter I’m happy with so far is Nova. It’s great that we have replacements ready or close!

Third start for Garcia, third bad outing. I had a feeling it would be a mistake to re-sign this guy. It’s always better to let a guy go a year early rather than a year too long. It was a mistake to expect a pitcher Garcia’s age to repeat the type of season he had last year. He’s lucky the offense came alive this game to save his fat from the fire. Based on this season so far it’s going to take a lot more than PEttitte to make anyone feel good about this pitching staff. So far it looks like Sabathia and no one else and it doesn’t look any better after news of Pineda.

If he doesn’t turn things around, and quick he most likely will be the odd man out of the rotation. I can’t see this team cutting him loose after it re-signed him. Most likely they will send him to the pen.

At this point Floyd I think Freddy’s days are behind him. If he makes it to the Trade deadline as a Yankee I’d be shocked. Right now I see them releasing him sooner than later.

Does Freddy Garcia really really suck…….
