Yankees release, then re-sign Branyan

Today, the Yankees announced that they released infielder Russell Branyan from his Minor League contract. After he became a free agent, the Yankees then re-signed Branyan to a new Minor League contract.

Branyan hasn’t played all spring with various back issues, but has resumed working out and hopes to get on the field soon.

Additionally, the Yankees outrighted catcher Craig Tatum – claimed off waivers from the Arizona D-backs this week – to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
