Andy Pettitte returns today

Andy Pettitte is scheduled to arrive in Tampa today and will be at Yankees camp to throw what will certainly be the most scrutinized bullpen of camp thus far. The 39-year-old Pettitte is showing up ready to get a good sweat going in the Florida sun.

“As a man, my desire to work is back,” Pettitte said last week. “Once (Yankees GM Brian Cashman) and I spoke in December, and I started working out again – I don’t know if it was because I had eight months off or a year off – but my desire to work is just back. I love working.

“For me, I guess, as a man, that right now is overriding. … When you pray about something, which I’ve done continuously on this, and I talk to my wife (Laura), and she feels good about it, then I’ve just got to follow what I feel like my heart is telling me to do, man. And this is where I’m at right now.”

Pettitte is meeting the media for a 6 p.m. ET press conference outside George M. Steinbrenner Field, so there should be plenty of talk about Andy’s comeback all day long. We’ll keep you updated on all of the latest here, on Yankees.com and on MLB.com.
