Yankees make first spring cuts

TAMPA, Fla. — The Yankees executed their first round of roster re-assignments after Friday’s 4-3 win over the Nationals in 10 innings, moving 14 players to Minor League camp.

Pitchers Manny Banuelos, Dan Burawa, Brett Marshall, Adam Miller, Ryan Pope
Graham Stoneburner and Chase Whitley, plus catchers Kyle Higashioka, J.R. Murphy and Gary Sanchez were re-assigned to the Himes Avenue complex.

Additionally, infielder David Adams and outfielder Zoilo Almonte were optioned to Double-A Trenton, while infielder Corban Joseph and outfielder Melky Mesa were optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Major League camp now stands at 56 players: 28 pitchers, five catchers, 13 infielders and 10 outfielders.
