Good 4th outfileder and dh…13 hrs in 200 ab’s…pretty good actually..

Andruw Jones is his usual self. Same as last year. Nothing has changed. I didn’t like him last year and thought the Yankees made a mistake bringing him back as DH. He is hopeless at the plate in key situations. He strikes out way too often. he really can’t be counted on. I think this year we’re going to get more of the same. Frustrating. Why do the Yankees think he’s a contributor when last year he let the club down so often? Sure he got a few home runs but generally he failed to come through. I reserved judgment this year in spring training until today but up to now he seems like he’s washed up and over the hill. I’d love for him to prove me wrong. Yankees need another win. Pitching was great in the last game against the Braves. Offensively we’re certainly not explosive at this point.

Isolating last years numbers against LHP and this is why he’s back:
Player – AVG – OBP – SLG – OPS – AB/R – AB/RBI – AB/SO
A. Jones – 0.286 – 0.384 – 0.540 – 0.923 – 6.00 – 5.04 – 3.23
Where AB/R=At Bats per Run AB/RBI=At Bats per RBI
and AB/SO=At Bats per Strike Out.
