Spring Game 3: Yankees at Phillies

March 5, 2012, 1:05 p.m. ET, Bright House Field, Clearwater, Fla.

There was some early morning activity back at Yankees camp, as Mariano Rivera and Rafael Soriano each threw live batting practice to the lefty-righty duo of Chris Dickerson and Francisco Cervelli. Rivera threw 28 pitches and gave up a couple of doubles to Cervelli, while Soriano threw 26 pitches. Manager Joe Girardi said that both looked good and Rivera could appear in Sunday’s game against the Phillies.

“I was happy with it today,” Rivera said. “I’m optimistic. I feel great. I’ll be ready. … I was born ready.”

Here are today’s lineups:

YANKEES (2-0)
Brett Gardner LF
Curtis Granderson CF

Hey Bob, blame most of it on Adam Miller, a reclamation project that doesn’t look worthwhile. At least so far!

Robert: Talking to yourself today. Not a good outing for the Yankees today. Didn’t have their big guns playing. And a few of the younger pitchers didn’t get the job done. Anyway, 2-1 isn’t a bad record to start with having played 3 against the Phillies. Good to be back starting a new season.
