Bill Hall announces his own signing
Bill Hall is winning some points for enthusiasm among the Yankees’ fan base, and he’ll have to keep racking up the points once he gets to camp.
The 32-year-old utilityman broke the news of his own signing yesterday on Twitter, beating the Yankees to the punch by posting, “IT’S OFFICIAL IM A YANKEE!!!!!!!! #IwannaRing!!!!”
And wouldn’t you know it? Hall has been racking up a new Twitter audience in the hours since. He later tweeted, “Just Hit 9k followers. This has been one of the best days of my life. Thank u ALL #HUMBLED”
Hall has experience at third base, shortstop, second base and all three outfield positions. He will have to compete to score a job this spring; he would make $600,000 plus an additional $600,000 in possible incentives if he is in the big leagues, according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.
The signing doesn’t necessarily end the Yankees’ chances of bringing back Eric Chavez. They’d still like to do so, though they’re also shopping for another left-handed bat and could wind up bringing in veteran Raul Ibanez.
