Yanks add Delcarmen to spring mix
The Yankees have signed former Red Sox and Rockies reliever Manny Delcarmen to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training, the New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports on Twitter.
The move indicates that Brian Cashman is continuing to stockpile pitching depth. Delcarmen, who turns 30 next month, did not pitch in the Majors last season. He was 3-2 with a 5.59 ERA in 26 combined appearances for the Triple-A affiliates of the Mariners and Rangers.
Delcarmen has a career ERA of 3.97 and a record of 11-8 in 298 big league appearances from 2005-10, making all but nine of those appearances for Boston.
