Slow going on Cespedes, Darvish

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Monday that his offseason hasn’t focused much on Cuban slugger Yoenis Cespedes or Japanese hurler Yu Darvish.

In fact, Cashman said that he’s had no dialogue with Cespedes’ representative, Adam Katz.

“He’s not even in play yet,” Cashman said of Cespedes. “We’ve scouted him over the years, and Adam and his staff are fortunate to be representing him, but no. No dialogue whatever on Cespedes.”

However, Cashman said he has spoken to Katz about fellow client Bartolo Colon. Asked about Darvish, Cashman said the hurler’s situation wasn’t holding up his winter.

“Darvish has been rumored to be posted for the last two or three years, it seems,” he said. “I only focus on what’s in the marketplace, not what’s speculative.”
