Hughes scratched; Noesi starting game one

Phil Hughes will not be able to make his scheduled start in game one of today’s doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays. Hector Noesi has been tabbed for the spot start, with the Yankees looking for him to throw about 50 or 60 pitches, manager Joe Girardi said.

This will be Noesi’s first Major League start. He is 2-1 with a 4.01 ERA in 28 appearances for New York, and was 1-1 with a 3.28 ERA in six games (five starts) at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year.
