A-Rod has MRI on thumb in New York

The Yankees sent Alex Rodriguez to have a MRI performed on his left thumb today in New York, and it came back clean. Still, manager Joe Girardi said that it is “really questionable” that Rodriguez will be available to play in the upcoming series against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Rodriguez will re-join the team on Tuesday in Boston.

Meanwhile, Derek Jeter is walking around better after taking a foul ball off his right kneecap. Girardi said that he could use him on Monday as a pinch-hitter in an emergency.
