Boy, Gardner has had a lousy night at the plate. A few groundouts, a bunt groundout, batter interference, 0 for 4. He’s leading off and supposed to be getting on base to use his speed. Hasn’t done his job tonight for sure.

Man, Houdini is working his magic again. He and Mo have saved our #sses in so many games this year. He and Mo have been the one constant out of the pen all year.

Now all we need is Vladi to hit a grand slam or Reynolds and we are suddenly leading by only 1 run in the 8th and turned this easy win into a nail biter. All because Joe insisted on putting Nova out in the 8th inning.

Unfortunately now we’ve got a rally going. We’ve given some momentum to the O’s by letting Nova pitch in the 8th and put two guys on base and then we ask Robertson to get 3 straight outs and hopefully not allow a run. A big assignment.

What do you know? Joe finally pulled the plug. He didn’t need to to pull Nova out in the 8th in trouble. He could have brought Robertson in at the beginning of the 8th because Nova pitched a great game and put in a good 7 innings and almost 100 pitches. What more can you ask for?

Here we go. A single and a walk already in the inning. Why can we see what’s going on and what’s needed and Joe can’t? We aren’t supposed to be as smart as the manager and certainly not getting paid as much.

Girardi has pushed Nova past 100 and into the 8t inning and he gives up a single his first batter. He’s probably starting to tire and Joe needs to get him out now and bring Robertson in. We can’t afford to give the momentum over to th Os at this stage of the game. You have to nail the door shut. We can’t end up losing this one too.

So do we push Nova one more inning. He’s at 91 pitches now. In the past if you push him past 100 pitches and one more inning he often tires and gets into trouble. But Girardi has to make sure he brings in the right guy out of the pen. Soriano didn’t get it done his last outing. Wade didn’t do very well that last outing either. An inning too early for Robertson. Anyway, we’ve got to put this one in the bank.

Again the Yankees winning with the long ball. If the long ball isn’t working they’re not as adept at doingthe small ball. They find it hard to make that adjustment. Gardner hasn’t learned to bunt and get on yet. Looks like we’ll win at least 1 game of this series but it’s not over yet. The Rays beat the Jays 12-0 today. They’re on a hot streak right now.

Been away all day and not able to watch the games or follow them on GAmeday. Looks like Colon pitched well enough to win but the offense went south. Didn’t I say after the 22-7 blowout that I was afraid that the Yankees offense would be non-existent for at least a few games. It seems to happen that way always. I hate for them to win in a blow out because we pay for out for a week until we get ourselves untracked again. And here we are again, playing a team that is one of the worst teams in the league and we can’t win the series let alone sweep. We’ll be lucky to come out of this having won 1 game. And in the meantime the Sox are winning and the Rays are winning and sweeping their series. We need to keep a close watch on our rear view mirror because the Rays are closing fast and they have enough time to catch us if we falter down the stretch.

Sooooo I see where out old buddy Buckyyyy Showalter is complaining about the Yankees issues with today’s doubleheader. Buckyyy you were a ROTTEN manager with the Yankees, I will NEVER forget your absolute STUPIDITY in the 1995 playoffs and how badly you handled the pitchers. Thank God the Yankees dumped your LOSING sorry @SS. You were and equally ROTTEN manager with the D’Backs. They dumped you and won a WS ring. An equally ROTTEN manager with the Rangers. They dumped you and won the AL pennant. So Buckyyy Boy why don’t you take a SHUT THE *UCK up chill pill idiot. The only thing you are good for is Recycling, you and DeAngelos deserve each other.
