Game 80: Yankees at Mets

It’s Subway Series time again here in Queens, as the Yankees roll across borough lines and take on a Mets club that has impressed of late. Even without Derek Jeter and David Wright on the field this weekend, Alex Rodriguez believes this should be an exciting series.

“I can’t remember a more exciting series against the Mets coming up, just because they’re playing so extremely well and they play at a really high level,” A-Rod said. “They have the world’s greatest player right now playing shortstop over there [Jose Reyes]. It’s exciting.
I turn on the TV every time I get a chance to watch him.”

Shutting down Reyes will be a focus for the Yankees this weekend, Joe Girardi said.

“I think what he does is he can get in the mind of the pitcher where the focus is shared,” Girardi said. “It’s not necessarily on getting the hitter out, it’s worried about him running and being quicker to home plate and giving your catcher a chance. And that can create issues if the pitcher’s not able to refocus before he goes home. We’ve talked to our pitchers a lot about those type of things.”

Here are tonight’s lineups:

haha not really a dynasty to be fair, there’s only 2 teams capable of winning it and we’ve both won 9 in a row, 3 is kind of normal if i’m being honest! Some AL pitchers look comfortable with bats, most just look like they’re standing in the middle of the road with an 18-wheeler heading straight for them, i think if we’re all honest that’s what we pay to see in Interleague matchups.

ah we’re in pre-season training, new owners at the club (lets just say our finances made the Dodgers & Mets look loaded!), chasing our 4th title in a row & looking forward to the new season in 3 weeks.

Was kinda surprised we didn’t/couldn’t tack more runs on, but wins are wins all the same – still, i guess we were saving it for the other 2 games in the series. Gotta be said though watching Logan bunt was one of the funniest things i’ve seen since Mo’s RBI last year, he looked like he hadn’t held a bat since Little League!

Oh, you’ve got a dynasty there! To me it’s comical seeing any AL pitcher with a bat!

Getting in about them fairly swiftly tonight with some well hit balls in the first!

Yes. Early on it looked like an American Football score would be the result. But the final was more International Football. How are those Rangers doing?
