Granderson attends NYC Marathon kickoff

Curtis Granderson is having a busy day. He was in Columbus Circle this afternoon, attending the ING New York City Marathon 2011 Opening Day.

Granderson was at the event to announce that his Grand Kids Foundation will field a charity team for the race for the second year in a row. He had a chance to catch up with eight-time Olympic medalist speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, who was on hand to officially announce his participation in the 26.2 mile, five borough race set for November 6, 2011.

The lottery for entry, by the way, is being drawn today. I’m keeping my fingers crossed to run the race again this year.

Here’s a photo passed on by New York Road Runners:

What a team! How much better can it get? Olympian medalist Ice speed man and amazing outfielder! Ohno and Granderson: an honor to the NYC marathon! Good Luck in the race to the finish line Apolo. PS, I wish I ran next to you!!!! My best to both of you, God Bless you!!!
