Bombers bits: Just a day off for Russell Martin, who has caught three games in a row. … Joe Girardi said he was looking to give Alex Rodriguez off today or tomorrow, and decided on a DH day today. He said it had more to do with resting A-Rod and less with the struggling Jorge Posada. … Phil Hughes had two MRIs (elbow, shoulder) and a vascular test today at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He was expecting to hear results tonight. Hughes will head back tomorrow for more tests. … A MRI on Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre catcher Jesus Montero (groin) was negative. Montero was hit with a foul ball on Sunday and sat out Monday. He is batting .407 (24-for-59) with one home run, four doubles and four RBIs. … Francisco Cervelli is set to catch tonight and tomorrow at Triple-A. He could be activated Thursday, so this might turn out to be Gustavo Molina’s final game with the Yankees.
