Game 19: Yankees vs. White Sox

We’re back at Yankee Stadium tonight, as the Yankees entertain the Chicago White Sox in a four-game series.

Finally, some more pleasant weather appears to be on the way, as the Yankees come off a rain-shortened two-game sweep of the Orioles in Baltimore and a two-game series split against the Blue Jays under the roof in Toronto.

The Yankees got some unwelcome news this afternoon as Phil Hughes cut his bullpen short after about 20 pitches, saying that the ‘dead arm’ feeling he had been experiencing is coming back. Hughes is going to be seen tonight by Yankees team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad, and the Yankees are calling this a setback. How significant it will be remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, they’ll give the ball to A.J. Burnett, who is 3-0 through his first four starts and is undefeated in 14 April starts as a Yankee, going 8-0 with a 4.00 ERA. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Burnett’s eight-game April winning streak is the longest in the Majors. The White Sox counter with Phil Humber, whom you might remember being a touted prospect across town with the Mets a few years back. This is Humber’s first career start against the Yankees.

Here are tonight’s lineups:

WHITE SOX (8-14)

Juan Pierre LF, Alexei Ramirez SS, Carlos Quentin RF, Paul Konerko 1B, Adam Dunn DH, Alex Rios CF, A.J. Pierzynski C, Gordon Beckham 2B, Brent Morei 3B

Pitching: Phil Humber RHP (1-2, 4.42 ERA)

YANKEES (12-6)

Derek Jeter SS, Curtis Granderson CF, Mark Teixeira 1B, Alex Rodriguez 3B, Robinson Cano 2B, Nick Swisher RF, Jorge Posada DH, Russell Martin C, Brett Gardner LF

Pitching: A.J. Burnett RHP (3-0, 4.37 ERA)

Some additional information from the Yankees’ game notes:

When will this team ever get it right? When will you get it right Bradley? Clemens is a HOFer I don’t care how much he may have cheated, just like I don’t care about how much Manny cheated and lied. Manny and Clemens may take this team down in the end but I love watching those guys play. I’m just glad they don’t have those losers Torre or Mattingly leading this team, those guys sucked especially Torre who did nothing with this team.

The last thing this team needs to do is bring back Pettitte, anyone who thinks even close to being a HOFer is a complete fool who is ignorant about baseball. I love blaming these kind of posts on Matt!!

GO SOX!!!!! KICK YANKEE BUTT!!!!!!

Bpoop its time for me to set the record straight. The A’s are my team but if Billy Beane replace CashedYogurt, the Yankees would win every year.

Joe Torre is one of the worst managers in mlb history, Girardi is the best since Billy Martin.

Hughes is the best pitcher on the Yankees and will be the ace next year. SisC is opting out and will be a Giant. The Yankees will regret trading Kennedy and Mark Melancon. Chamberlain is worse than Chris Britton. Nova is flat out terrible and needs to be optioned to the minors to increase his trade value.

Gardner is the worse outfielder the Yankees have ever had. They need to move Granderson over and start Andruw in center until they can bring Melk Man back.

Pettitte, Clemens and Messina are good ridence to ban rubish, the Yankees are a disgrace for signing them. Colon and Garcia are studs. Carlos Silva is a beast.

When is this team going to get rid of dead weight like Gardner, Cano and Arod?
