Homer-happy Yanks off to most powerful start

Robinson Cano, Russell Martin and Curtis Granderson all left the ballpark tonight with home runs, and that gives the Yankees 27 homers  – the most they’ve ever accumulated through 14 games, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

New York’s total surpasses the previous mark of 25 homers, set in 1932. They’ve hit homers in 12 of their 14 games this year, hitting two or more homers in nine of the contests.

“It’s good,” Granderson said. “At the same time, it’s not always going to happen for us, but when you can get them, you can definitely change a lot of things – momentum, the lead, extending the lead. It’s always something the other team has to be concerned about.”
